So far, so good. Not an official nursing student yet but am currently taking my prereqs. A&P and Chemistry the next two semesters, then probably micro in the summer.

hello hobbes! glad to hear things are going alright. these are your last classes you need before applying to the school of nursing. micro was the "hardest" for me. i didn't have to take the chemistry.

don't let us (ladies) worry about "our" men. keep in touch!

Personally, I would like to see the whole system overhauled. The main culprit in my area (Houston) seems to be a lack of seats.

Why not just have aditional RNSG classes that handle the academic side. Example: Instead of Growth and Human Development why not teach a streamlined version that focuses on it as a nursing componet?

The way it is now the two year degree takes atleast three years.

I have applied to LVN programs and am attending two colleges for the last ADN prereqs.

In the meantime I am just twidling my thumbs as I get to experience things such as one instuctor selling very old and used books from the trunk as the "department" ordered late.

This six foot male is ready to help lift and move those patients for ya :) Let me in.

I think you cloned my schedule. Plus a psych class, a pseudo-English (Technical Report Writing, ugh) and I'm gonna get my humanities elective outta the way. With luck, I should only have one non-nursing course to take the entire way through the program.

Going well. Had our first nursing fundamentals lab on friday. I'm taking A&P1 at the same time I'm taking my NUR courses, so I'm having to study constantly. It's definitely the most rigorous thing I've ever done. Way tougher than my bachelor's degree in Political Science and Psychology.

My wife is enjoying school too, and she doesn't have to take A&P.

I've completed two weeks of ADN school now, and it's been like a whirlwind! I really need to be studying right now! I don't have A&P 1 along with my courses, because I've already taken it (thank God). I'll be spending the rest of today and all day Monday (we're off ffrom school) getting somewhat caught up. I took the summer off, and got out of my study mode. In other words, I've gotten lazy:rolleyes: . I'm starting to get geared up, but the first few weeks have been overwhelming to say the least. We've already had two labs and been checked off on handwashing and sterile glove procedures. I really like my labs, and my lab teacher. Well, I had better get back to the books. hi, njs! after the completion of my asn, it will have taken me three years also. it would be nice if more seats were offered. in other threads, i think one of the main reason was, money for clinical insturctors. is it the reason in your area too. i do pray you get in soon.

hello zohar and wife! i must say, it is nice to hear when couples are doing things of this nature together. we haven't started our check off in lab yet. we do have an exam in fundamentals and health assessement monday week. all the best to you and yours. let us know how you, and your wife are doing and how school is going.

I agree with you, NJS. Wouldn't it be nice if they could streamline the process a little bit more? An ADN here takes almost the same amount of time as a BSN.
