I got accepted into a program that I know is going to be strenuous and time consuming, today we got the packet for our program. So much to look over. Fingerprinting, scrubs, vaccines, book list, it's so much! I'm not worried about the time it might consume, I'm worried about the money it's going to cost me! ( I knew what I was getting myself into, it the application it stated that you must be ready to meet the financial demand of the program). I will do it, and I will be broke, but it will be worth it! Just a little rant/vent. Anyone else in this situation? I am excited, it's more real now! Who's with me?

:)Yep I agree all the stuff we have to have is expensive. They do not warn u of how much everything costs till u are in program. Had so many shots this month my arm hurts. Thank goodness everything is done and my spot is secure. No alternate is taking my spot, lol.

I found my hep A shot for 35$ thankfully. I received it today as well as had my tb read. I'm officially done. And have everything ready for the first day!!! Such a relief!!!

I guess I should consider myself lucky that most supplies, all books and the required scrubs were included in my tuition for the program I chose. I still have to do the physical and vaccinations though, which is sooo expensive. My financial aid won't pay out until after school starts so I will have to go out of pocket on those. Thank god for supportive family!

I'm not sure what state you are in, but I'm in TN and I was able to receieve help from the WIA through the local career center and they paid for basicallly everything, books, tuition, scrubs, etc. And you don't have to pay it back or anything. Just thought that might be something you could look into! It helped me tremendously! Good luck!

Hey! I'm in TN and I am completely overwhelmed about getting my books, scrubs, supplies, etc. for the fall. I don't know where the money is going to come from. I googled WIA funds but I am still confused on what they are and how it works. How is eligibility determined? Is it funding that may be available by the fall or is it a program with a lengthy wait? I have never heard about that program before!

:( I'm sorry! Have you tried FAFSA? I know it can help a little and there are a lot of places out there to get scholarships so it's definitely worth a try! I just filled out my FAFSA application but thank goodness all of my scrubs and books are include in my tuition (which is why it's like $27,000!!!).

What is WIA?

Just ordered my littman stethoscope!! :)

Had my first exam today!! It was nerve wrecking but I got an 85!!!! :)

Just finished my first lpn class! Earned a B in fundamentals and let me just say that wasn't an easy grade to learn. I had 3 exams and a final. My grades were 85,82,79 and 85 on the final. I was praying for a B on the final to get a B in the class. Nursing questions really trip you completely up!! Especially select all that apply. Well I'm thankful that I got a B. I have a week off then I start med/surg and clinicals. Hope everyone's semester started off great!

Keep the attitude that it will all be worth it! It will get so frustrating at times, but the best feeling in the world is when you pass your NCLEX and you get your license number. So worth it in the end!!!!

How did u finish ur fundamentals already. Is that one of the long courses??

Nursing classes are 6-7 weeks depending on which program. My program is only a year long. And a prereq for my lpn class was to already be CNA certified or have taken a class on the basic ADLs. You had to have done that to get accepted so we were tested on personal care, ambulatory and all that the first week. So we jumped right into everything else. Still covered 22

Chapters in the class portion of fundamentals. Very very fast pace!
