Hi there!
I have posted in this forum several times mostly about prereq questions and program questions. WOW this has been such a process to get to the point where I am at now but I am doing my best to remain positive.
I decided last year to pursue nursing which honestly had been an interest of mine for a very long time. I have worked in the field of education for 8 years now and even after earning my B.S. and M.Ed. I still did not feel whole, if that makes sense. Having had 3 surgeries in the past 3 years I have felt an overwhelming feeling that nursing is my path each and every time I step foot in the hospital...even though I was the patient.
So right now I am finishing my last 2 prereqs for the NAU CEP through Gateway!! I will be done with those in Dec and can apply to the CEP in Feb. I am hoping to get into the GWCC evening track or MCC's hybrid. We shall see. I went to the info session already so just waiting to sign up for the application session. Scored 95% on the HESI so I feel good about that. At the info session they said that NAU CEP takes into account not only GPA but HESI and past degrees that they then apply to a points rubric. I was a little confused about this but I feel like I will be holding my breath until I hear back in March if I am accepted. A few of my very distant past prereqs that they count in the overall GPA were not the greatest grade wise and I worry that those will bring me down and hurt my chances. Then I hope my HESI and past two degrees help me.... ahhh! My current prereq grades a good I just hate to think a few classes I took at 19 years old could ruin it for me. Any insight on NAU's CEP acceptance criteria as far as GPA, HESI, and past degrees? From my calculations my GPA when all is done will be around a 3.2-3.4 so I meet that cutoff for a 3.0 but of course I worry this won't be competitive enough.
Thank you all and good luck to everyone in the same boat as me!!

While 3.2-3.4 isn't the most competitive, that HESI score is fantastic. Plus the past degrees. The CEP admittance is not as competitive as the university direct admittance. So far, most people who apply are accepted. As it gets more popular, I'm sure there is slightly more competition, but I have been hearing of people with much worse stats then you getting in first try. I know easier said than done, but try not to worry too much. There is a very good chance you will get accepted. GL

My scores were just a smidge lower than yours and I got accepted to the NAU/MCC CEP when I applied a few months back in May. Good luck!! :)

When I went to a recent CEP meeting there was 6 or 7 of us. The people running the meeting said a year or two ago the entire room (80+ people capacity) would've been full. They basically made it sound like if you meet the requirements, right now you'll get in because not many people are applying for it. Good luck!
