Anyone here worked at Albany med center, or even from Albany? I want to get an insight before committing to any job offers, I wanted to know where is the safest place to get an apartment, but not too far from the hospital because the job entails on calls off duty.
They have told me they have a low cost of living there compare to the city, therefore their salary rate is much lower.
I would greatly appreciate all your inputs. Thanks

not sure if you ever got the answer to this or if you already found a place but I live in albany been here for some time and:
1. they call it smallbany for a reason everywhere is like 15 mins away from each other (if you catch my drift) so you can practically live anywhere in the city of albany (not albany county...learned there is a difference...i'm originally from nyc lol) and still be like 15-20 mins away from AMC
2. def try to get a place further away from downtown albany especially the arbor hill area (yeah that area with doing call and having to walk out of your apartment at night...not safe!) although depending on your age you may like the downtown albany scene (albany is surrounded by colleges with AMC holding 5 of them (CRNA/PA/Pharm/Law/Medical)
3. so the further up albany the better a nice area that quickly comes to mind is the buckingham pond area near st. peters hospital which is like down the block from AMC
good luck!!

I considered AMC, but the pay seemed really low and I read on a forum about Albany that rentals are run-down. How is it?

Amch pays the least out of area hospitals as far as I am aware, there are some CNAs at other facilities making what a newer RN at amch is making.
