Air Force NTP 2014 application timeline

Hi. I have submitted all of the components of my application for the NTP, but my recruiter went on maternity leave before I could ask when the physical exam and chief nurse interview will take place. Also, if my selection board convenes in June 2014, when should I expect to know whether or not I've been accepted? I'm working on "Plan B" and this info would be helpful -- thanks!

You can't schedule the interview until after your physical. Generally, your paperwork deadline is about 4-5 weeks prior to the board date. You generally find out whether or not you're a select/alternate/non-select 2-3 weeks after the board convenes.

The irritating thing is that high alternates (#1 or #2) could very well be picked up later on...meaning you have to wait longer. I was an FQ alternate (experienced nurses) and waited 6 months before having to reapply (although I did get it the 2nd time). You definitely need to have a civilian job lined up. You can always break any contract with military orders later: gym memberships, leases, new grad contracts, etc.

If you work as a CNA in a hospital right now, try to take ACLS or PALS. Anyone can get certified with the NIH stroke scale for free at this website: NIHSS - English - NINDS : Home. Get the maximum letters of recommendation (I think it's 5) sent in too.

Thanks for the information!

I'm applying for the NTP program this summer as well. I've been told by my recruiter that the board will meet June and we should know by the end of July if we're selected, alternates, or not selected! And jfratian is right, you won't have your chief nurse interview until everything else is pretty much done. Are you talking about the physical at MEPS? For that, I had to schedule it a week or two in advance. I just gave my recruiter dates I would be available (you'll have to make sure the entire day is clear, since it "could" take all day). Mine only lasted from 0600-1200 though. Good luck!
