Hey everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for those people headed to COT in January. Comment if you're going and let's keep each other updated and share any helpful news we learn along the way!

Welcome Heather :) My recruiter said they put us up in hotel(s) and pay for/reimburse you for that expense. You also get a per diem for meals.

Hello. Congrats to all who were chosen! I'm Harmony. Jan 19 cot, ntp tampa, orders to sammc . looking forward to meeting yall.

Welcome Harmony :) Congrats to you as well!!!

To my understanding we will be living in dormitories, and it's not recommended that we bring family.

Welcome Harmony! I, too, will be heading to Tampa for NTP and then orders to SAMMC! Congrats :)

hcoin - I spoke with my recruiter again this morning about a few things and did ask the NTP housing question again since I had her. She said that for NTP they always house in a hotel, but not all bases have on-base options. So, you may be put up at an off base hotel. She said they give you an AF cc that the hotel is billed to and you just have to submit receipts every 30 days and the card is paid off by the AF. She said you are welcome to bring family if that is your wish, but it can get challenging for that long time period ;) Hope that helps some!

Hey guys, I'm Alex from Boise, Idaho. I'm a Med-Surg select taking the six year option. Still working out plans for my commissioning. COT in January, NTP in Tampa, then orders to SAMMC. Congratulations to everyone.

akracht--thanks for starting the FB page. Looking forward to meeting you all!

That sounds much more promising than those awful dormitories. Thanks for the info!

Hello everyone and congrats on your acceptance!!

I will be applying as a fully qualified MH nurse and hopefully will be joining you guys in COT this upcoming January if accepted. Fingers crossed! I will be having my interviews very soon at Hanscom AFB. Any advice when meeting with the Chief Nurse? What kind of questions did they focus on? (I do have the guideline sheet that they go by)

It appears you all are in the NTP? I almost went that route just for the extra experience but my end goal is to focus in psych and eventually become a MHNP. My recruiter recommended just to go in fully qualified with two years experience so I would have a better chance than the very competitive NTP.

So besides interview advice, did you all receive what they promised in the beginning? (Loan repayment? sign on bonuses? Etc.) And also did you guys receive some of your top choices on where you'd be based?

I am really excited for you guys! Nursing is a great profession and I can only imagine how much more rewarding it is in the military. Thanks!

@bb5698- My name is Kristin and I hoping to be accepted and headed to COT this Jan as well... my husband is active duty and we are currently stationed at Eglin... its amazing, the area is beautiful and there is so much to do... people pay an insane amount to vacation here and we get to live here year round... Ive also spent a lot of time at the hospital. Its a great hospital and the staff is wonderful. I actually just met with chief nurse today and she was extremely friendly and easy going. Seemed like she really stands up for her nurses. anyways... just thought Id share that Eglin is a great base and if you have any questions Id be more than happy to answer them for you:) hope to be joining you in Jan.!
