Air Force FY 2015

Published

Is anyone else on here applying for FY 2015 for Air Force? I'm in the process of applying for the selection board in October 2014 and it would be great to hear from someone else also applying for the end of this year! :)

I got the call the most awaited call.....and I did NOT get selected. This was my second time applying so this is it for me. Good luck to everyone and Congratulations to all the selected. God bless you all and thank you for your willingness to serve our country!!!

I received a call from my recruiter today; I'm alternate #6 (I applied Clinical Nurse). Disappointed I wasn't selected, though at least this time it's a 'maybe' not a 'no'. All I can do for now is wait it out and see if the slight chance happens that 'alternate' turns into 'select'. Sorry to hear your weren't selected, enova. :( This is my second time applying as well. I'm about at the point where I'm wondering how many times I'm going to apply? Each time has felt a bit like starting all over and ending up right back where I started. Good luck to everyone else! I can imagine the excitement y'all feel who have been selected, and I'm excited for you! :) Thank y'all, in advance, for your service!

it makes u wonder. what kind of experinence did u have? good letters of recommendation? what are they looking for?

Sorry to hear that servant leader. I applied clinical nurse too but my recruiter said he did not have alternate numbers yet!! This is so frustrating I got alternate 6 last year!!!

I was selected for OR, going to Eglin in Florida for February, super excited!!!

Selected for Critical care !! COT 30March then off to Travis !!! Congrats to all!!! Such an exciting journey for us all to start! Stay strong alternates and non selects. Keep trying!!

Irfarmer, if you don't mind me asking, what's your OR experience like? How was the OR nurse interview? And was Eglin your top choice? Any other info you have that is OR unique? Im applying for January boards and I'm super nervous!

sbain51,

I've been a nurse for 8 1/2 years, and have been working in the OR for a little over 1 1/2 years. I do alot of ortho, and to a lesser extent general and spine. The interviews went great, I was prior active duty and have been a MED/SURG nurse in the Navy Reserves for a little over 1 1/2 years. I wanted to go back in the Navy as active duty, but was told I was too old - I just turned 44 this week. Eglin was my 3rd choice, Langley and Wright-Patterson were #s 1 and 2. AORN certification is very important according to the Colonel who did my interview, and I do not have that yet. I was that I might not have enough of the right experience to get selected... glad I was wrong.

Irfarmer, that's great! Congrats!! This makes me a little more confident! Thank you! I've been an RN for 3 yrs and an OR nurse for 2 of those. I'm CNOR certified. And have experience circulating nearly all specialties (general, plastics, dental, ortho, ENT, neuro/spine, head and neck, hearing and balance, urology, peds, transplants, hearts, vascular, ob, GYN, eyes....I feel like I'm leaving some out but I think you get the idea) I really hope I get selected!

From the sounds of it, you shouldn't have any problem. It sounds as though you have quite a bit of experience under your belt.

Thanks Irfarmer! Hope you are right! I just have to get the Chief nurse interview and or nurse interview done and then it's a waiting game until the selection boards in January! :/ hope the time passes quickly!!!

I have heard there were 10-15 openings for Clinical Nurse. Has anyone who also applied for Clinical Nurse also heard how many people were applying for those 10-15 openings this time? Also, anyone have a head count of how many alternates there are?
