Aiken Tech Fall 2015 Hopefuls

Published

Anyone applying to Aiken Tech's nursing program for fall 2015 acceptance? If so how many merit points did you have? What is your GPA?

of course you'll get in too, liane90! You have 36 points. The wait is what's killing me. And i feel like the office people never want to tell you anything that might get your hopes up. Like my advisor would only say that my application looked "very pretty", but she wouldn't say if I would more than likely make it into the program or not. And we still have another month of waiting.

I hope you are correct, and although I started out confident that I would make it, time is making me nervous. If I make it with 36, you definitely will with 37.

Hello everyone, I also applied for Fall 2015 with 30 points and a 3.8 GPA, I'm currently enrolled in micro but was hoping my GPA is well enough for me to get accepted if points aren't enough. Does anyone know what they look at 1st?

points first, then GPA

I am getting nervous as time passes. I wish we could know sooner. How is everyone else holding up?

Hey! I'm doing good. Yeah, I'm still pretty nervous, but I'm just trying to enjoy one of my last real summers without summer classes or homework. I'm also trying to stay busy, like, next week I leave for a vacation in NYC. I know that it will take my mind off of the wait. How are you doing?

I am currently in annual training with the reserves, and we leave for Puerto Rico a week after we get back. I am hoping that the letters come before then ! If not, I will call when I see any of you post that you got the letter. I keep checking the 'my atc portal' , even though I know its WAY too early. I have been reading articles and posts on this site, which turn out to be very insightful.

Wow! I hope that everything goes well with your training and in Puerto Rico. I wonder if it is too early for the ranking process to be wrapping up. I'm just wondering because 2 days ago I got a phone call from Augusta Tech (where I also applied for nursing school for fall 2015) saying that I had been accepted into the program. It's just confusing because Augusta is notorious for taking forever to let everyone know if they were accepted (like, people don't find out until late July to early August). Also, the whole reason I applied to Aiken was because I wasn't sure if I would make it into Augusta, since it's based 70% on GPA and 30% TEAS test scores, and I don't have a 4.0 GPA. I decided to go with Aiken and rejected Augusta, though. Do you guys think I made the right decision??

Honestly, I think you will be fine. Aiken has had a 100% pass rate for the NCLEX for three years running, and a 98% rate the year before that, where only one person failed. (Gotta love usa.gov for information). I did not even bother applying to Augusta, despite that it would be more convenient to go there. I do not like the idea of their school. You will get in with a 37, so I do think you did the right thing.

Puerto Rico is a trip to see family. I am excited for it. I just really, really hope the letters come before we go !

Reading the last years fall thread, they didn't get their letters until June 29th, the scoring started 20th, I believe. So I truly doubt that they are done with it.

I have a quick question. Were we supposed to fill out the official GPA? I left it blank because I was told that the nursing program instructor calculates it her own way. I have 39 points and a 3.6 unofficial GPA. I just hope my application isn't rejected because I left it blank.

no you are supposed to leave the official GPA blank. Don't worry, with 39 points, there is no way you aren't in. You did what you are supposed to. That is for the school to fill out.

yeah, 39 points is excellent. I hope we all see each other at orientation. It's getting to be about that time where we find out if we made it or not. It makes me sooo nervous to think that they may be calculating points and ranking people as we speak.
