My agency told me that AHPRA might phase out the bridging programs... Anyone ever heard of this? All I know is that from the link below, AHPRA is indeed going to change its rules and regulations on international qualified nurses and midwives.

Yes, should have been overhauled years ago, shame NBV shame.
This way as a Graduate certificate from a university will at least give a known qualification for the money and a standardised curriculum that applicants must.make that, to pass. Same cost across the board also. No more rip offs for overseas applicant nurses and also sometimes the Australian public.

I do not believe the Board will abolish the Bridging programs for IEN's.
IEN's may at first not appreciate what is the goal of the Bridging programs ( because of cost, requirements etc )
But ultimately it helps them adjust in the Australian health care setting.
I have handled quite a number of foreign educated nurses under a bridging/assessment program and it serves a transition program for them to blend and adjust with the system.
More often, IEN coming from a third world country - it is usually a big shock to see the diiference in clinical setting and operation requirements.
The bridging programs are being changed to the Graduate certificate with university affiliation, they are not abolishing them.
I have received a LOE from AHPRA that will expire on July 22, 2014... With the change that is going to occur in AHPRA, you think I will have to re-apply for registration?
