Ahead of opening arguments, Greg McMichael's lawyer told BBC News that the defence will hinge on a two-part strategy: citizen's arrest and self-defence.
"They got in the truck to pursue Mr Arbery for the purpose of detaining him long enough for the police to arrive to take over and investigate whether in fact he had committed any crimes," said lawyer Franklin Hogue.
"That turned from a citizen's arrest into self-defence."
I listen to and watch this trial in the evenings. What do you think about it so far?

Apparently no one is acknowledging that this type of situation is what appeals are granted for. Would Al Sharpton with his reputation cause the jury to be intimidated or otherwise not be able to come to a verdict based on the evidence instead of intimidation or implied threat? Kinda like the protesters chanting outside of the jury deliberation room in the Rittenhouse trial? This is complete BS and makes the justice system look inept,stupid and not trustworthy.

Are you serious? Guess what? I can move there anytime I want. I am a US citizen just like you. I have lived there. I've spent time living there in the south when my dad was stationed there.
Is it so hard for you to comprehend that a person can both live and immigrate to Canada from the US and visa versa?
Or do you imagine all immigrants as the illegal ones coming up from the south?

I'm not certain that Travis McMichael's decision to take the witness stand is going well for him. Does Mr Bryan's attorney get to question Travis? Travis made it sound like Bryan was the person who was interacting most with the victim.

That attorney for the state really stepped in it by asking that question about the death penalty for property crimes like theft. Yikes. A proper reprimand is definitely in order.

The prosecution and defense have both completed their closing arguments and the judge has given the jury their charges and directions. My sense is that this shooter is not going to be treated as leniently as was Rittenhouse in Wisconsin.

The jury returned guilty verdicts on multiple counts. Travis McMichael guilty of 9/9 charges. Gregory McMichael guilty of 8/9. Bryan guilty of 6/9 charges.
