I am in 4th sesmester and I am so afraid of the NCLEX. I have test anxiety big time. I have made many drug cards and flash cards as well. I also have Saunders study guide. Are there any other suggestions?
I still have a while in school ( finish in Aug.) yet I am already stressing over the exam, even though I have done well in school. I am doubting myself and all that I have learned. I hate to see how stressed I will be in Aug, I'll be a basket-case.
Any advice welcome

I took the NCLEX-PN in late December 2005 and passed on the first attempt. The best way I got over the test jitters was to learn as much about the exam before actually taking it. You'll need to understand how NCLEX works and what C.A.T. (computer-adaptive testing) is really all about.
This Kaplan book is so wonderful and filled with strategies that proved highly effective for me. If you do not pass NCLEX, they'll refund all funds you've spent on this book.

I am at that point now, where I have to take NCLEX-PN. I finished my program last week, and now, I am overwhelmed with study. However, I do have the Kaplan Strategy for NCLEX-PN, Saunders and Delmar's books. It can be very overwhelming at this point, because you have to review each of the subjects you covered in class, and yet, at times, you do forget the material. I think that you should begin studying the questions pertaining to whatever subject you are currently taking. If you are studying pediatrics (for example), answer the questions from the CD-ROM that apply to pediatrics, and read the comprehensive guide to get hints on where to focus, or the main points. And, yes, get that Kaplan book. It is great! And, not that expensive.

yes, the nclex......i just took it and passed in february. the best advice that i can give you is to do some computerized testing now.....get the hang of how they want the questions answered. at this point you are going to know it or you won't..... i used a book called exam cram and it really did help me more than saunders or mosby's. read and study the exam tips.....that helped me the most. the only thing i would really try to memorize at this point are your labs....think up little ditties for them.....like bun: from the baker they come in 10s and 20s (usual range about 10-20 give or take depending on your study guide), calcium: buy your milk at the 9-11 (not the 7/11) chlorine....you swim in a chlorinated pool when its 95-105 degrees out. if you've made it this far in nursing school don't fret the nclex.....do those practice computer tests and the style will be familiar when you sit down for the one that counts.....good luck!:balloons:

Delmar's NCLEX book was my favorite. Of all the study books I used, this one was probably the closest to the actual NCLEX. Use the CD's a lot so you get used to doing a computer test. Hopefully, by the time you get to the actual NCLEX you should be fine. Good luck!

one thing i understood about taking the nclex was that its not completely about right or wrong....its more of compentency. never doubt yourself and remember choose the best answer when i took my exam it was a 3months after i graduated my paperwork got lost then i couldn't get the testing date soon enough...i had decided to just get out of nursing altogether..then i came to my senses buckled down ..got my lippincott flashcards out and studied....those flashcards was the best thing that happen to me ..i didn't like the books because i felt like i was just reading and it wasn't getting in..the cards where challenging...and it all paid off:biggringi
