Ages of male nursing students?

Nursing Students Male Students

Published

Of the 23 other students comprising the group that I entered nursing school with, three of them are men. The class that is graduating at the end of next week I believe has 1 male student, and as far as I know the class immediately behind mine has 1 as well. This is about 60 students (some classes have had students drop), with 6 of them being males; that's only 1 in 10.

So we know that male nurses are few and far between, but how old are we?

The 1 student in the class graduating next week is 28.

The 1 student in the class that entered the semester after mine is at least 30 (a second career-er I believe).

Of the 4 in my class, 2 are about 45, 1 is 40, and then there is me...21.

How old are you guys? How old when you started school?

Just curious.

Im 20 Years old, my friend got in last year at 19... and this is to RCC's Degree program

I waited for 2.5 years and finally got in at age 23. My wife was one of the lucky ones who didn't have to wait in that crappy lottery system and got in at age 19 and is now a 22 years old already a nurse.

I'm 19 and I start nursing school in April. I believe there are around 5 other men in the class of 48...women dominance!!

Tell me about it, I'm one of the 3 guys out of 50 students. From what I heard at my institution, a lot of professors favor male students. :)

I'm not sure if you (asianone) are replying to my post or the entire thing, because I havent started my program yet, I just met all the people at orientation, thats how I knew how many men there are. I'll let you know how it goes once I start...

I am 30 hopefully I get in the program for fall but I will be 33 or 32 when I finish.

Specializes in ED.

Future...don't worry. I was 48 when I graduated last year, and 49 days before my first day on the job, lol.

Age means nothing nowadays, one of my co-workers is 55 and he's starting the program with me.

Im 22 and one of 3

I completely understand im in a program with about 150 students and only 6 of us are men...

I received my letter of acceptance this week to an LPN program, starting in August.

I do not know how many men will be there but if my past classes at school are any indication, I will be surrounded, which is not a bad thing.

I will 56 when I start the program and 57 (when/if) I graduate.

22 with a semester left!
