Agency loses my documentation

I went to my agency to check up on some of my hours in question. On the sheets I fill out their is an area to record hours worked and area (on same page) to put in documentation. When I went to look at sheets some were not in file. I asked about them and was told that the agency has some changes in office set up and was unable to find all of my sheets. I know that these sheets were handed in because I was paid for those hours. I am concerned because one of the families is lawsuit crazy and I am concerned that if they check up on documentation (which they have been known to do many times) these will not be there and it will be questioned. I can't understand how they can be so lax about this.:uhoh21:

I faxed my hours to maxim on LAST monday. its been a week and I called to see why I hadnt gotten paid yet. They didnt get my hours. So i have to go up there today and hand them my slips in person.

Needless to say, im welcoming my new job april 1st at a rehab center.

When the documentation gets lost, the agency can have you obtain the field chart copy and make a copy of it, write "copy" on the form, and turn it in to take the place of the missing paper(s). However, unless the agency asks you to do this, and especially since you have been paid, it is not your responsibility to keep track of the papers once you have turned them in to the office. Sometimes offices "lose" documentation on purpose. I've seen this happen in nursing homes. There really is nothing you can do about it. Since you are with a lawsuit happy family, you might want to reconsider whether you want to remain with this case. Although, legally, these families can't copy the field chart, some of them do so for their future use in lawsuits. When you are dealing with people like this, it is better to get out of the situation before they sacrifice you.

Unfortunately these are the only documentation that is done so if anything is said their is no more anywhere. This family is allowed to read all documentation and does it on a pretty regular basis. Hopefully they will be too busy to check the last month or two. I like this family alot but anyone who constantly talks about their lawyer makes me very nervous. I may have to consider leaving this case after this year. Thank you!

This is a good reason why you should always have a copy of such things. Never turn in the original without keeping a copy for yourself - and that applies to nearly everything in this life - it can save a lot of headache and heartache to spend the few cents and time to make a copy.
