Sorry, but it does not matter if one gets an agency. The issue is that the UK has a hiring freeze in place as well as the fact that they will not issue a license as an RN thru the NMC.
We see all types of promises being made, but if you cannot get a license, then you cannot get a visa to work as an RN or in that role. And anything less than that will not count as current work experience.
Much has already been written on this very topic on the UK Forum, suggest that you have a good read so that you do not get taken advantage of as many others are at this time.
i know what you mean but nhs hospitals can advertise post and so hire overseas nurses if their own nurses dont fit for the job. i have known a collegue who fortunately hired, just very recent, by ashford and st peters hospital in middsx.and she is working in recovery area as RN!
I do find this hard to believe as many newly qualified nurses are struggling to find work in the UK and working as a recovery nurse is not on the shortage occupation list and will struggle to get a work permit.

Unless your friend had significant work experience in this area before, cannot see how they got hired. NMC is also making it quite tight to even get licensed there. One also does not get a job as an RN right away without going thru a specific program there first as well.
Things are not always as they seem.
Your friend, if they did get a visa, also got a temporary work permit and nothing more than that, and it can be cancelled at any time by the government there. And the last batch that went there all got their visas cancelled.
So not a very good idea at this time to even consider. You are also talking of one person. And since they recently got hired, are they actually working as an RN now and receiving that salary? Something is not adding up as one must complete a special program there to even get the license.

I have to agree with Suzanne, I am a manager and do a great deal of recruitment within a NHS trust and human resources will not even allow us to shortlist overseas applications let alone offer them jobs. If you do not have a current work permit (and you won't be able to get one without an employer) then you will not be allowed to be interviewed within the NHS, this is the same no matter what trust they work for. It has to be UK and EU nurses first, and only for the most senior nursing positions are you allowed to consider overseas applications and only if the UK and EU ones are not suitable first.
