I was (am) 37 - and far from the oldest (or youngest) student. Don't worry about your age - follow your dream!

That's really heartening seeing how I'm 21 and probably wont get my LPN till I'm 23-24. All this time I've been feeling like a complete failure for not getting my degree like the rest of my friends.

EN (similar to LPN - stands for Enrolled Nurse) - 23yrs
RN - 39 yrs
Don't feel like a failure. I've been there, done that, as you can see I was an EN first - you are a nurse as an LPN, first and foremost! Do it in your own time, don't stress yourself out. And don't worry about what others think. Just succeed at what you are doing. Don't think for a minute that being an LPN is not a responsible position because you are still taking responsibility for every action you do, from admission to discharge. Your patients rely on you, your knowledge and your care.
If you want to wait as long as I did to do your RN, then do it. Don't let anyone push you. Enjoy now, and learn...

No... I meant I'll be getting my LPN in a couple years. I'm still a direct care staff at a state institution... but I get your drift. Thanks for the encouragement!
Hey! Dont worry! Trust me.Im also 21! (Will be 22 in ONE month! and i cant even start the program untill aug.2008! =( )
When i *FINALLY* get my LPN.. I'll be 24.5! Im in the same boat as you! But dont worry. Still young. Got so much time for a career. All these ladies/men inspire me to do this! Just believe in yourself! You will be fine!:balloons:

Both of you are so young! I'm on my second career, as were many of my classmates. I would not worry about mid-20's.
thank you!!! Thanks for your Kind words!

Get your AA, while you wait, Take some Business Management classes, take the Pre reqs that are required for your RN, all of those things will build your nursing career so your options will be unlimited... Look at what is required to get into a masters program when you run out of classes. I wish I would have started when I was your age. I waited until i was 45 My youngest Graduated from HS when i graduated from the LPN program and we both graduated from college the same day.

Just wanted to say - that I will graduate when I am38 (just shy of 39). I have to stop thinking about age as a limit. The point is I did it!! I committed to something and I FINISHED IT!!! Ok, I will have one foot in the grave when I do..... LOL
Good luck to you!!
