I just applied for certification from ANCC and need advice on how to prepare. Our school had us to take the Barkley online review with the modules, quizzes, CD's, and manual. I took the Comprehensive exam and failed it the first time. The second time I passed, but still feel as though I didn't know enough to pass boards. THis past semester was very demanding, especially since I was trying to continue working and fulfilling my family duties. I didn't prepare as well as I would have liked due to lack of time.
I am asking for advice on preparation for the exam. I already have a job waiting for me so passing the first time is crucial. I plan to continue studying the Barkley material, but also am considering the Fitzgerald on-line review. It seems as though it is too late to register for a live review. Any advice?
Thanks

From what I have heard, the online Fitzgerald is very similar to the live review. That's what I would do if there were no live reviews available to me, or if time were short. Best of luck to you. I'm planning to take AANP sometime next month.

I would do a lot of practice tests. There are a few you books with practice tests you can consider buying:
1. Amazon.com: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination: Review Questions and Strategies (9780803609570): Barbara Todd: Books
2. Amazon.com: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Study Book: Second Edition with Online Test Prep (9781449604578): Sally K. Miller: Books
3. Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Clinical Curriculum and Certification Review: AACN, Anna Gawlinski RN DNSc CS-ACNP, Deborah Hamwi RN MSN NP: 9780721673110: Amazon.com: Books
I used the Barbara Todd book years ago and found her questions much tougher than the actual test but it did prepare me to expect the worst.
Thanks everyone!! I just got an email stating that I will receive another email in a day or two with instructions to schedule my test through ANCC. I'm very nervous. I have a job lined up and need to pass!!
