Affinity vs recovery trek in texas

I am starting a order with the txbon for random uds screens and in this forum I have seen both affinity and recovery trek discussed, and I an just wondering if anyone knows how one gets put in one or the other? I will not be in TPAPN or an other type of program,  only the testing and 1yr of relatively minor stips (LOL which I know will still likely make the job search Very daunting).

I know it doesn't really matter but they do each have their own rules, prices,  restrictions,  locations,  procedures,  etc and in this hurry up and wait game I'm just trying to prepare myself as much as possible.  I would be so grateful if some would be willing to share some details,  their experiences and answer some questions,  as I know I'm not the only one out here on the edge of my neuroses waiting to starting the most uncomfortable year of my life.

Thanks so so much in advance,  I hope everyone is making the best of their day!

Sincerely,

Tense in Texas

I'm not really sure, I just thought it was different by state and program.   In SC, everyone uses Recoverytrek, for daily check in and to record your AA/NA meetings.

it gives me anxiety every time I have to check in in the morning.   You're lucky you are only 1 year - I'm at 5 years.  I think at some point, maybe at the 3 year mark, I don't have to check in but someone will randomly call/text me for a urine etg or Peth.

I log in my AA meetings on recoverytrek and they even have a location tracker on there!  But since covid, online meetings are allowed and I think they don't check that anymore.

Yeah that's what I said too! I think 1yr is a minimum sentence for anything... though my one offense was 10yrs ago for something that's legal in most of the country now so it still feels extreme but I'm trying to be grateful to be able to get on with it ?

From what I've seen, it does seem like any one in TPAPN is with affinity but I have also seen the txbon has a current contact with recovery trek for "assigned clients" LOL any texas nurses with info please feel free to weigh in ?

TPAPN switched to Affinity a few years ago, not sure if non-TPAPN people were switched or if they still use recoverytrek ?

Right,  that's what I thought but you can definitely find an active contact between the BON and recovery trek...LOL it's seems counter productive to have 2 contacts but hey we are in texas and I guess there could be a million reasons for that....

I've used both and I like affinity better, but I'd say they're fairly similar!

So I know it may not exactly apply to me since I'm not in TPAPN but here's my big questions.

1 if you have a positive result,  does it automatically go for confirmation testing to confirm its not a false positive before the board or your cm looses it and sends you for an eval or makes you stop working or something of the like or are you immediately guilty until proven innocent in Texas?

2 Were all or any of your test witnessed and if so how invasive was it?  I'm super compliant but I have some anxiety issues about getting naked in front of others because of some issues in my past and it literally just occurred to me that this may be an issue for me and I'm terrified that if I freeze up bc of it and can't preform they will call it a fail....

1) I believe so because they all get sent off, they don't do the testing then and there. I was on prescription medication that caused positives and when it resulted from the lab, the result would say "positive" and then be changed to "prescription positive" when my CM reviewed it. Not 100% sure on this, but I believe if something pops up that isn't supposed to, you generally have to stop working immediately, then you can have them test the other sample (every collection should be a split specimin), do other tests, etc. I don't think they really do "false positives" in Texas. LOL

2) No, none of mine were witnessed. Try a few different labs to find one you like. I went to one chain for the first year but they were extremely strict and rude (like giving you a very short amount of time to pee, rejecting the sample if it wasn't completely full, etc). The place I went to the remainder of my time was super awesome and laid back. You definitely don't want them too laid back though-I did have to go to an after hours place once and they were very sloppy and almost caused my sample to get rejected.LOL

You're amazing,  thank you so much for the info!  LOL my body does crazy things and I've had some crazy false positives that are scary even though they are eventually negative so I guess I'll just have to be super strict on intake, which I'll live on water and chicken breast for as long as I need to if I don't have to get naked in front of anyone LOL I've been joking with my husband about watching me pee for practice runs just in case!

Thanks again and have a great day ?
