Found your posting. I am in the process of sending in my initial packet. Do you know if COTS for reserve nurses is two or four weeks? Forgot to ask the recruiter that little bit of info.

Thanks and good luck!

The RCOT (for Reserves) is 2 weeks but usually only offered once a year rather than 7-9 classes a year for COT. For example, I have missued the RCOT for this year since I just got accepted and it begins the end of April so I will more than likely attend the full COT sometime this year. Dont know when yet. Hope this helps.

BTW - does anyone know any information on seasonal training for reserves (i.e 270 day military leave from my hospital to work on base when not in trainings) Essentially it is "active status" for that time period. Rather than going back and forth to my civilian job between trainings.

ANY information on expereinces, pay, etc would be greatly appreciated. I am awaiting to hear back from my squadron on this but almost 99% sure that I am going to go this route but there is not a lot of information at all out there on it.

Thanks so much in advance. ;)

Hi,

I have the same question. What exactly did you find out ? I'm an RN hoping to join AFR as a flight nurse. I passed my MEPS physical, and completed most of my class III flying physical. I have passed everything so far, just waiting on my physical exam with the flight MD during next UTA. After that, how long will it take for my package to be sent and get a commissioning date ? Also, how long for orders to report and COT school ? I appreciate anything you can give me. I hope to be sworn in by early next year, 2011.

Hello,

I can't give you specific answers to your questions but I can tell you my experience. When all was said and done, it took almost 2 years from my initial contact with the recruiter to being sworn in. I had a few waivers to get but that wasn't really the problem. There was no identified problem with my package that I knew of. It just sat on different desks for extended periods of time and slowly got passed through the chain.

The good news is, I have completed COT and am in Flight School now. I love it. It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but worth it.

I will try to answer any questions you have, but giving you dates and timelines is not going to happen. I have met so many people that have similar stories to mine, but some that had experiences that went very smoothly and they commissioned quickly.

good luck!

Thanks for the info. Congratulations to you !!
