Specialties Case Management

Does anyone currently work in this position? What is a typical day? I'm currently looking at local positions and I'm extremely interested in learning more. Thanks.

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I know someone who works as a field-based case manager for Aetna. She is expected to assess her clients at their homes, then type the data into assessment forms at the main office at the end of the day.

This is not a traditional head-to-toe assessment, per se. In fact, the case managers cannot even touch the patient due to liability issues. Rather, it is an assessment that consists of standard questions.

Specializes in Psych/Med Surg/Ortho/Tele/Peds.

That sounds like an awesome career path following my stent in patient care.

Can you give a general amount for the salary range for a position of this nature? I know discussions of money are a sensitive topic, so I don't want to pry, however this is a field I'd like to get into - the perfect marriage of my nursing and administrative skills.

Thanks in advance

I am in a large city in Texas. Pay tends to vary by geographic region.

My friend who works as a field CM with Aetna says she was offered $70k yearly. She is a newer RN with two years of experience, but no experience in insurance-based CM.
