subscribing to a few nursing journals is a good idea to get you beginning to socialize as a nurse. you can also join your state nurses' association-- they will have a monthly or quarterly publication.
but seriously? you're barely started in school. focus on school for now, observe what you can about the nurses around you. that's part of school.

Hello Ladies a gents of the nursing world! Dont worry i read plently of threads of "what not to ask" lol so hopefully this isnt a repetitous question. I read alot of threads looking for the answers.....Anywho here it goes....
I literally just began in my nursing program (thank the lord) and i have a light first 2 terms till the summer, I truly would like to be the best nurse i could possibly be: smart, competent, quick thinker, great and reliable co-worker/employee. Are there any good nursing books you all can recommend that i can begin reading throughout my program? good documentaries? Magazines? Articles? sites? I find myself on my free days going to barnes and nobles reading nclex books or those little quick study cards lol...corny i know. But this is my second degree... my first degree in biology, i never used since graduating in 2007 and only had jobs in order to "survive" so i don't have any nursing experience only front office healthcare expeirence. Basically i been bartending ever since (tough road definitely) Sooooo i'm excited to began a new/initial career and i want to be the best at it seeing as though I feel like I wasted 4 years of my life not in the professional world.
Thanks in Advance!
p.s. any fellow transitioners from the job world into the career world i would love to hear some feeback on your experience...For me i honestly feel every job i've had since graduating besides one i hated and only did it for money....I always felt as though i wasn't living up to my true potential...so maybe in a sense i didn't "care" not in perfomance but in mentality....sigh i'm i know i love all things medicine, hospitals, healthcare personnels, blood, guts etc...so i'm going the right direction. Ok i'm done again lol thx!
