advice on how to start....lincoln tech?

Published

okay, alot of questions here, stay with me please. 38 year old looking for a career change, nursing has always been an interest. looking into how and where to start is frustrating. i have limited college many moons ago some i'm wondering if the best move would be to enter a lpn program and then move onto an rn program. my thought being that the program is 22 months and would move me to my field of choice quicker then nursing school (a long wait in ct i'm told).

also i've been to one open house at lincoln tech, which seemrd like more of a pitch to get me to go there than anything, and the 22 month program is $31,500.00 which seems like alot, but again i'm don't have anything to base that on, and ct can be expensive.

anyway any pointers help advice money (HA!) would be appreciated.

speaking of money...what does an average lpn make anyhoo?

thanks all for your time and wisdom.

The workload is a bit crazy but so far i am been staying on top of everything .I realized that the key to staying on top is keeping up on your reading>read read read those chapters is the best advise I ca give you if you have to read a chapter more than once so that you get it it is perfectly ok.

thanks

I don't mind the questions at all sweetie because when I was starting I had so many questions and no one to answer lol.......Honestly the instructors so far have been cool not too bad>our Nursing fundamentals professor is a mess but she is really nice we had to give her a chance because she never taught before she has a bacholers in nursing but never been in a classroom. The A&P teacher is good she is a nurse practitioner and she makes sure you learn she will go over it over and over and over again. We started in april but we are part time so our program is 2 years but I don't find because it was the only lpn program that could fit with me and my daughter's schedule. We will be finished our first quarter of 4 in october we just started clinicals last weekend that was more overwhelming that class itself. But in october we start Med-surg,pharmacology,life span development. Are you going part time or full time?

Hey guys!

I'm new here and also looking into Lincoln Tech in Paramus. I've worked in health-related administrative jobs for awhile, but I love working with patients and I'm ready to make a switch.

I spoke with an admissions rep at Lincoln and she told me which study guide to get so I can take the admissions test when I'm visiting in January.

I'm also looking at Dover in Clifton and CAN in Hackensack.

I want to do LVN so I can start working right away, maybe do the RN later. I just don't want to take that much time off work.

Anyway, just wondering if there are any other people out there doing an LVN program in northern NJ, any recommendations.

I've really enjoyed reading these posts!

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Lola
