I tested positive for marijuana for a pre-employment drug test. Its been a couple weeks and I just received a TPAPN letter in my mailbox saying if I don't respond to this within 10 days they will send my case to the BON.
Okay I have mixed feelings about what to do. First of all, it is currently Saturday and on Monday I will be getting in touch with a nursing attorney as well as calling this case manager about my decision.
TPAPN will show that I admit that I have a substance abuse disorder or mental illness (neither which I have, so I may not even be a candidate). In addition to all the other requirments TPAPN will have me perform through its 3 year course, I feel like I should just let my case get reviewed by the board.
What can I expect from the TX-BON? What is the best thing or the worst that can happen. This is all to ease mine and my wife's minds while we wait for Monday to speak to the attorney.

There is a program with tpapn that I believe is called EEP for nurses that have been busted using but arent addicts. I think it is one year long. Personally I like my **** private and the board likes to post this kind of thing on the web. TPAPN keeps it confidential. You may find info on tpapn website about eep. The board normally refers you back to tpapn and if you choose monitoring by the board it may be worse than TPAPN. Good luck

Yes, there is info about EEP on the TPAPN website. I just visited there a few days ago. Good luck and keep us posted on how things go.

I also agree with the above post. If you go through the board there most definitely be some kind of probation agreement which will be public knowledge. If you complete your 3 year monitoring at least it all goes away after that. Never public! That's good news!
