Advice please?

Hey ya'll,

I really need some advice. I just enrolled in my pre-reqs and as a single mom who wants to provide for my child and myself I could really use all the advice I can get!!

My adviser and I enrolled myself into CNA, CSS, Math, CPR, and A&P for my Fall Semester.

For my Spring Semester, this is just an idea, Dev. Psychology, Pathophysiology, Speech.

For Summer...Sociology, Microbiology, Comp 2.

I was told to get my Nursing application and turn it in by Feb. So, my question is...what factors will be taken into consideration when they make their final decisions on who gets into the program or not?

You would have to check with the nursing program at your particular school. At some schools you are required to be a CNA before you apply. Some schools base admissions on various factors like work experience as a cna or emt, knowing a second language, science gpa and teas scores. Other schools just let everyone who completes the prereqs on a waitlist and if you get your app in early you are accepted. Yet other schools use random lotterys for students with their prereqs completed. I would suggest speaking with and advisor at your school to find out what the criteria is! Good luck!

Oh and in my honest opinion being a single mom and wanting to provide for your child is not a good reason to get into nursing. There is no nursing shortage, jobs are hard to find and honestly I think I made more as a bartender slinging liquor then I will once I become a nurse!
