Hi everyone. I will be starting school in December. I have a six year old boy and a two year old little girl. What should I expect from the LPN program? Is there a lot of testing, reading etc? How much time will I need to devote daily to my studies? My son usually plays a sport a season so he will be playing basketball when I start school. I will still be responsible for all of the cooking, cleaning and errands. I know that I will have to pull out the crock pot for some sanity... Do you have any advice for me regarding managing school, children etc?

Plan on 2 hours of study for each hour of classroom.
Plan on 1 hour of prep for each hour of clinical.
Cook a week ahead whenever possible. Set limits on your family. Can you get someone to help with taking your child to Bball? You may have to say no one quarter to sport participation for your son. I wish you the very best.

I am in my 2nd year of an associates degree RN program. I have a 7 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl. Fortunately I am able to stay at home with them while I go to school. Can't imagine working full time, but many people do as well!
I try to make at least a little time each day to school. Obviously some days it is a LOT of time but not every day. I don't ever have my kids give up their activities. I would rather stay up late than have them miss out. My son plays baseball, football and wrestling. He has practice 2 nights a week most weeks during his seasons plus games. I make it to as much as I can. If I am not at school I am at his games. I make it to probably 80% of his games if not more. My daughter does dance once a week and I am the one bringing her to dance. I also volunteer at their school 2x a week. I schedule my schoolwork around my family life. I sacrifice my sleep to do it sometimes but it is worth it! I am up after 11 tonight doing clinical work after getting minimal sleep this weekend. I am exhausted but I am getting through it and so will you. Good luck!
