I started HH/H 1.5 yrs ago and LOVE IT!!! It is the BEST job I ever had and I work with the most caring, dynamic brain children (my fellow HH Nurses) who nurtured me along after being out of nursing 17 years! It took awhile to get organized and skills up to par, but it was worth every minute! I always look forward to the next day and there is hardly ever a pt I would rather not see! Pts progress quickly with our educational material and help and the rewards are great!
Merry Christmas! Hang in there..the reward is worth all the crumby paperwork!
Thanks so much Karmil for your great reply!!! Like I said the job is going great and I love it so far. It is so nice to be able to spend more time with the pt and really feel like you are making a difference!! I have done Psych nursing for the past 2 years and Labor/Delivery as well as Med. Surg. and so far I like this the best!! So again thanks so much for the reply and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
The reason I got into the healthcare profession, was to be a patient advocate. I did have the opportunity to advocate for my patients on occasion, however, I feel I had limited contact and that I was not being utilized at my full potential. I also really enjoy dealing with people and being challenged.
I haven't left the OR completely, I may still do per diem. I did enjoy it most of the time. You body/mind really takes a toll if you do back to back traumas.

Hi! New to allnurses.com. Never posted on a nursing forum before. Been a RN for 5 years now and just started a new job in Home Health Nursing a week ago. The job seems great so far. Any tips or advice for a new Home Health Nurse??? Thanks to all that reply!! Merry Christmas!!
