Advice Needed

I need some advice from a seasoned DON about dealing with an administrator. I don't dare post the whole story here, so if any of you would like to give me some advice, shoot me an IM. Thanks.

I wish I could help you, but I think it's all about power and "who's the boss"...it's not about what is best, it's about money and numbers.

Always glad to give you an opinion CCM. But you know..opinions are like buttholes, everyone has got one. Send me an IM if you think I can help.

Hmm in the last 6 years I have had 4 administrators (not at same building)...current one is a gem. I have had 2 lousy ones who were difficult to deal with and a regional butthead who was worse....lol!! Let me know if I can help....I have butthead admin experience! lol! Last one wouldn't recognize a good worker if it bit her in the face!! Was in a building for 15 years....worked my way up from charge nures....MDS...ADON to DON...gave that building blood sweat and tears!! She steps in brand new and had no idea....changing things that worked...treating my staff members like crap...treating my LTC nurses like they were stupid....she felt acute care nurses were "better". Well...long story short...I resigned after all of those years...it was painful...felt like a death....but thankfully I moved to a much better environment!! Well this administrator hired her acute care background only DON-who had great acute care credentials dont get me wrong-...but she subsequently hired her acute care friend ADON-and they had no idea.....lmao! Well the survey 3 months after I left was good....but then it all fell apart....the next survey was AWFUL!! Staff morale in the tank....census dropping...staff coming and going....finally resulting in this precious admin giving her notice (quit or be fired type of thing)...and now the DON has put in hers as well.....all within an 18 month period. Justice. Value a great DON!!!!! Silly rabbits!!!! The stories I could tell you that lead up to me resigning my building-Oy!! Let me know if I can help!!!!
