Advice for NCLEX takers!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi all!

I really wanted to make a post to support future/current graduated students about studying for the NCLEX!

I graduated December 2016, took my test Feb 17th, and PASSED today (19th).

I am a average student. I got B's on majority of my exams and class grades. 3.4 GPA.

I used Kaplan (online self-pace, because I had work) and Uworld.com.

I LOVED IT AND IT IS VERY VERY VERY SIMILAR STRUCTURE TO NCLEX.

Kaplan served a great purpose for me because it helped me THINK through the questions that I didn't already know the answer too. Nursing school teaches you to basically recognize and recall key words. There will be some questions where you just do not know the med, or you dont memorize pediatric vital signs... Kaplan helps you pick out the answer!

Uworld is great for additional practice questions. Same format as kaplan and NCLEX. And they provide GREAT rationales with DETAIL. It is an additional price to pay, but it is worth the additional practice.

Another piece of advice, prepare not to pass in 75 questions. So many people want to pass in 75 and then have their heart sink when they get to question 76. It makes the anxiety so much worse when you're testing. If you pass in 75, AWESOME!! but sometimes you dont, like me :)

I passed with 136 questions, 2 1/2 hours. I had about 10 medication questions (all recognizable meds, a few select alls, and many priorities!

Yes! I'll let you know if I passed! Ive been studying my a** off, it will be worth it! I wanna be like you, passed! :)

How'd you do today!!

Okay so I got 75 questions i was there for two hours. Definitely wayyy easier than kaplan/uworld. I had 15 satas, 1 delegation and the rest were priotization. At first I thought I was failing cus i was like theres no way nclex was this easy. Took a break at 41st question then after that **** just got real, i got hard questions and some i didnt have any idea about. But i followed what kaplan taught like how to answer questions. I didnt have any drag/drop, no calcu, pharm, hotspot none at all. I had meds but they were prioritization questions. Ive been checking pearsonvue and doing pvt. been getting the good pop up. It has been 12hrs!!!!!

Congrats!! I am taking mine friday. Reality is setting in that I am going to take it so soon. Did you find that the decision tree helped you for the questions that you weren't clear on?

Woohoo! That sounds great!! I'm so excited for you!!! My little cheat pop up appeared 9 hours after I took my test. I paid for my unofficial results :p But you should be getting it soon! My license number didn't appear until Wednesday

I took mine this morning at 8am in California. It shut off at 75 questions after about an hour and a half. I had mostly priority questions, maybe 20-30 sata (i didn't count), 1 exhibit, 1 med calc, and 1 ekg. I was worried because the first portion of my test seemed a little too easy, but then I would get about 3-4 SATA in a row. Is this a good sign? I am a little nervous!

Hi All, I was also an average nursing student and tried to pass my nclex exam. I found America Healthway Education in Santa Ana, California. They provided thorough review which helped me a great deal. I also used Uworld and read every rationale. I took mine on 2/14 and passed with 101 question. It was hard but I made it. Best wishes to all!!!

I am just beginning. I have 16 years experience,so I know alot of the field, but I worked in Oregon and now I've relocated to Washington and the laws are very different from each other. I'm starting out as a hospitality aide and starting the CNA class for Crestwood in Port Angeles the middle of next month. In Oregon we don't have any continuing education to do,so all the testing and licensing and continuing education seems overwhelming. How difficult is the state licence test and where can I go to take ceu's or get started with training classes?
