Hello guys, I am seeking advice on how a past General Courts Martial would affect my chances of commisioning as a Nurse Corps Officer in anyone of the services. Court Martial occured as an enlisted airforce GAL for Assault, (General Court Martial. after over eight years of appeals my case and conviction was thrown out by the highest court in the military system the Court for the Armed forces of criminal appeals. Case is completed dismissed with prejudice. I am now awarded a reasonable sum on Back pay E6. Here is my current dilema, after being on appellate leave for 8 yrs I became an RN recently finished my BSN. I now have 14 yrs of active duty. I dont care ,uch a civillian life and I am considering seeking an appointment as a nurse corp officer. This court MARTIAL which the court saw for what it was false malicious and trumped up is my only adverse contact with law enforcement in my life. Please keep in mind I have been completely vindicated at this point with no conviction on my recored since it was thrown out with prejudice.
Help and advice please?
Thanks in advance guys.

Since all the charges have been found to be false there should be no problem. You might have to have the case reviewed and an obtain a waiver since the military likes to have a list of all charges against you even if you are found not guilty or are false as in your case. You should do an internet web search of regulations for joining the military.

I would take it as far as you can take it. I bet is SHOULD be no problem, if it is a problem is sounds like you can fight it. But,,, I also bet it will resurface many times over many years and you may have to continually prove yourself, possibly. It is worth going forward at any rate.
