Hey,
OK, first I'm a student (on the 9th woo) and I know this is a student thing but I'd thought I'd ask people who are actually out of school and working.
What is a good brand of Stethoscope? I got to buy one for school I don't want to buy a piece of crap (Like the cheapies at my college book store) but I don't want the 300 dollar one either. I have been looking at the Littman ones. (I believe it's the "classic" model) A lot of RN's carried those when I was working as a CNA. Also the guy at my local scrubs/nurse store told me they are covered under warranty for 2 years.
So you guys in school or out and use your quite a bit what do you think? I'm ok with spending up around the 130 dollars area. The plan is to use it when I get to the "working for money" part of the plan lol.
Thank you in advance.

I like Littman, although I do have the cardiology III model as opposed to the classic. I just don't hear very well on the lower price range models, but many people use them and hear everything just fine.

The Classic III is a solid choice. It's perfectly good for most applications.
However, the Littmann Cardiology III is pretty much the acknowledged standard, especially if you are looking at critical care or cardio related specialties. It has a 4.5 star rating with over 1800 reviews on Amazon. You can find certain basic colors for $140, more fancy colors cost more.
A Classic will get you through nursing school and well into your nursing career. If you have an extra $50 laying around, upgrading to the Cardio III will never let you down.
I had a cheapo stetho in school, upgraded to the Cardio III after my first paycheck, and was amazed at the difference. I will never downgrade.
Thank you I will look into the 3

I had a Classic III that I bought for my CNA training and loved it for years. It got nicked a few months ago during my final LPN clinical rotation and I didn't much like the Lightweight I had as a backup, although most people in my class thought it was fine. I upgraded to the Cardio IV for about $160 and love it!!! You may be able to find it even cheaper, I bought it in plum with a smoke finish which I believe raised the price a bit.

I have a Cardiology III and I love it. The Cardiology III is affordable, yet a very good quality.
