I have not yet applied to any nursing program, I'm very interested in the NYU basic bachelor 4-year program. Currently I'm enrolled in a community college. My first year I had a VERY low GPA(1.6), I wasn't going to class. My second year I got myself together and maintained a 3.0 for two semesters.
My cumulative GPA is still pretty low(2.7). I have been trying to make up for my first two semesters. NYU nursing for the BASIC bachelor program (4-years) does not require a minimum GPA to apply.
With that being said does anyone know what my chances of getting in are? Has anyone applied with a GPA so low?
ADVICE PLEASE!

New York is known for having pretty competitive entry programs. That GPA is pretty low and does not bode well for even having a chance at entry. Not saying absolutely not getting in. Just not very likely. Even with a good entrance exam score. Many students with 3.5 still don't get in. I am not in NY so maybe someone near you can have more specific advice, but from what I've seen in other posts, that GPA is way to low for any state university let alone one as well known as NYU.

My advice is to stay far away from NYU nursing. No basic bachelor of science degree nursing program is worth $47,000 a year in tuition. Pick another school.

A school not advertising a minimum GPA isn't the same thing as them not having one. When all applications are compared, I believe you'd find that your very low GPA would not have you in the running. Most successful candidates run with A's, maybe a B here or there....but not a full year's worth of B's and a cumulative GPA in the C+ range.
You are unlikely to qualify for significant scholarships given your academic record....and you would NEED significant scholarships for that (expensive) school unless your parents are quite wealthy and have money to burn.
As I said, they do not require a minimum GPA upon application I've called and spoken to the advisor at NYU. And as far as the cost of NYU I do not need a scholarship. All of the classes that do apply to the nursing program I have no less than a B in, I also forgot to add I am now taking 3 summer courses, they end next week, as of now I have A's in all 3. I'm hoping that will boast my cumulative GPA. I'm also hopeful that they will look at my transcript as a whole and see that I have significantly improved my academic scores, from not showing up to class reviveing C's and D's to A's and B's. With that being said I'm optimistic. Side note* I am taking 17 credits next semester and if I do not get into NYU this time around hopefully I will after this fall semester. :)
Based on the information you had provided, I guessed your chances at poor. Based on the new information you're providing.....it's a little better odds, not fabulous, but not horrible either. However, if they see that you CAN foot the bill, you might find yourself higher up on the list Just how it is! Competition for spots is tight, but money most definitely talks.
Good luck!

There's no loss in apply! How I got told just apply the worst that can happen is get rejected! It's worth a try, apply to a bunch of different ones! Don't be discouraged! Just keep getting good grades and apply!
