Advice: Am I ready?

Published

Hi, I've done Hurst review live and I've studied for a week now and I'm still not sure if I'm ready tO take nclex. I started doing Saunders questions from the cd that comes with the q and a book and I'm scoring in the low 70's. Haven't done the hurst q reviews but will start today I'm scheduled to take nclex feb. 2nd. Should I reschedule or not?

Hey everyone. I just toom my NCLEX on Friday and I passed with 75 questions. :) I used ATI all though out NS and I got a 98% chance of passing NCLEX the first time with the ATI comprehensive exam. I also used the Kaplan book with strategies and sample 260 question practice test. Great book! First 50 pages helped me break down questions. And I also recommend the Priortization, Delagation, and Assignment book. Must have to help you with priority questions!! Good luck!

I passed the NCLEX last week, with it shutting off at 75.

I did well in school and for studying used primarily ATI as my school (BSN program) used them extensively. I found their program VERY helpful.

Some tips.. no matter what program you use:

Look for something that offers answers with rationales. The rationales were the most helpful for me no matter what.

Look for programs with lots and lots and lots of questions.

Look for something that gives a pathophys/physiology review... or allows you pick questions based on systems.

Last but not least: Give yourself credit for what you already know!

Best of luck!

Another note about the practice test scores... I was getting in the mid-to-upper 70's on my practice tests most of the time. Sometimes in the 80's... but not often. .. and yes.. I passed the NCLEX at 75 questions. :)

The NCLEX 3500 has a great bank of SATA questions. Some one has posted a link to it here on AN. You should be able to search for it on here. I used it exclusively for questions because the rationales are awesome and I used www.quizlett.com for flashcards for lab values. Just seach there for NCLEX Lab Values

I took NCLEX yesterday and passed with 75 questions. Best advice I have for you all, First, realize that you know this; you wouldn't have passed nursing school if you didn't. Second, BREATHE! Third, on test day make sure you eat a good meal that will stay with you for awhile right before the test, you don't want to be distracted by a growling stomach, Fourth, know your lab values and write them on your white board when allowed to do so (brain dump), that way you have them at a glance and don't have to try to pull them out of your head. And last, but certainly not least, PRAY!!

You can all do this, go in with the mind set that you WILL pass, think critically and take your time. You will do fine.
