Has anyone received the AENT grant? If so, is it for your your whole NP education? I am starting in Jan and received it. How are the stipends paid. Any info would be appreciated.

I received it through my school when I was in my ACNP program. This was a long time ago. I applied for the grant on my second year of NP school and was awarded the grant for 3 semesters between 2003 to 2004. I think the amount depends on the individual institutions in terms of how much money was received from the federal government and how many grantees are picked each year. My school paid up to 8 credits per semester. That means if my academic load for a semester was 9 credits, I only paid out of pocket tuition for 1 credit. The money automatically got credited towards my tuition due for each semester.

I have received this grant the past 3 semesters. It is given to APN students who are interested in primary care and/or working in an underserved area. There isn't a payback or work requirement. At my school, funds are credited about 10 days before the semester starts, and anything over and above tuition/fees gets refunded so you can use it for books, etc.
HRSA awards the money to the school and the school gives the funds out, so the only problem I ran into was that last year my school awarded all the funds in fall and spring, so there was nothing left to award for summer school last summer (the end of the financial aid year, I guess) so I had to make other arrangements. You might ask if the funds you receive for spring need to also cover your summer classes. Hope this helps!

Present AENT grants go through June 30, 2014. Schools need to re-apply for funding for July 2014 to June 2016.
It is up to your school what the traineeship grant covers (tuition and/or stipend) as well as how your individual school awards the payments.
