Adult/Gero NP, Acute Care- recommended schools?

I'm in the middle of applying to schools for my MSN (Adult/Gerontology Acute Care NP)

I'm looking at online schools as my primary option (There is only 1 school in my area that actually offers the acute care NP, and is super competitive so I'm sure my chances of acceptance are pretty low). Relocating isn't an option.

Any school recommendations from those of you who have completed an Acute Care NP program?

Hope you change your option, online vs campus. I study in CSULA. It is a campus, a lot of lab hours, you are facing 1-1 with instructors, you communicate with your classmate. That is the best network connection.

You will practice central line insertion, a line, intubation, suturing, chest tube insertion, and sim lab

I'm in the UCONN acute care program and it is excellent. Many of the didactic classes are online but some have a classroom requirement every Wednesday. They find all your preceptors for you and they are all vetted beforehand. They have an excellent sim lab and it's been a pretty challenging program so far. I'm in my final year and I think it's one of the best programs out there. It's a beautiful campus too.

I went to Georgetown University. Best decision ever. Hybrid program. Online course work, online live classes, then lab/Sim on campus once a semester.

I am currently enrolled at University of South Alabama, graduating in approximately 30 days. This school is affordable as I didn't want to add to my existing loans. I was able to pay out of pocket as I went. It is great for a self starter, online and you are able to complete clinicals in your hometown. I would recommend this school if you are able to secure a good preceptor site. I am already proficient at central line placement, arterial line placement and intubations (as they require 10 of each to be signed off at the hospital I will be working at when I graduate). Another new ACNP I was hired with came from Georgetown. Her student loan debt is astronomical, she had not done any procedures during her time as a student, and we make the same money.

Did either of you have much in the way of group work? I'm currently looking for an all online ACNP program and I was looking into Georgetown (I honestly don't mind the traveling once per semester, it'd be a mini-vacation that I could take). Plan on working full time as much as I can but thankfully my family is supportive and can help care for my daughter (she's almost 2...how hard can it be right?).

Good to hear this! I've applied for the dual FNP/ACNP at USA but will focus on the Acute Care portion for the DNP.
