Adult-Gero exam and AANP

Hi! Just wanted to share I just passed the new adult-gero exam with AANP. I used Barkley's review as well as Leik and took some practice exams through APEA. If I could re-do it I would have stuck with Leik and APEA. Barkley went too far into DKA management, and information ACNP's would use rather than Primary care. Message me if you have questions!

I go Tuesday for the ANP, I am scared out of my mind. I got 69% on the AANP practice test. I puked. I did Fitzgerald. Some of the questions I hadn't had with her or in school. A Patrick test? OMgoodness. Totally freaking out. All the information you get is study Diagnostics and planning. How helpful is that?

I am scheduled to take Barkley mid June, then am taking a couple of weeks later. I am taking AANP. I have his CDs and have some Fitzgerald CDs and the book that goes with it. So I am combining them until I actually go to his review and get his book.

He suggests in the CDs not to use anyone's stuff but his, and to not take practice exams. I understand needing to know our stfr, but I feel the practice exams can be useful. Anyone not use practice exams and do OK? Also, if you did, what percent did you get many feel confident with before exam?

Ya, I heard of barkley saying not to use any practice exams. Eh, I sit next Saturday and other than reviewing some things, I am doing practice questions. I don't know what else to do.

I am to the point where I feel like I am looking at the same material over and over and not learning much. I feel ready.

I think they use Patrick test as a distractor. That's what I Saw on the practice test and it had nothing to do with what the question was asking.

You should definitely do practice questions just to get yourself in 'test mode' The APEA questions and Leik Questions were pretty similar to the actual exam. ALSO, I have to say that NEITHER Leik nor Barkley covered all of the material tested. I went through both Leik and Barkley and can confidently say I got at least 85% on the exam. Only a handful of questions I knew nothing about.

I was scoring mid 70's on my practice exams and I felt pretty confident going in. And it helps to know you only need a 62.5% to pass! (from what I calculated)

Thanks for the information. When you say that Leik and Barkley did not cover all the material, did you feel you needed more review, or were they enough? Sounds like you did great!

I was just planning on using Barkley's stuff, along with the Fitzgerald stuff that was given to me. I will do practice tests, I feel they would help. I will check out Leik and APEA too.

It's nuts not to do practice questions. I don't understand that advice. In fact, doing tons of practice questions gave me a lot of confidence.

I meant to say that neither Leik nor Barkley (when done alone) covers all the material. I mastered both books and I would say it covered 95% of the material tested.

I am about to take adult and adult gero in about 3-4 weeks any suggestions? I am reading leik book, I have purchased the apea book and CD and only 1000 Q. I am mainly using the q bank and reading leik. I do have barkley fitz but obviously i have limited time. I have gone through Barkley and know it. when i do practice q I score ok in all area except evaluation how can I improve thtat? Thanks

any topics any recommendation I will take please help
