  1. What I don't quite understand is why haven't I just flat out been denied if d/I ratio needs to be so high? I am way less than 100%, not sure what my facility rating is, but would guess tier 1. Anyway, why don't they just deny me, instead still under review? Just wonder?
  2. Hi, I wasn't aware of D/I ratio when I applied. Mine is less than 100%, so am very doubtful I would get anything. Congrats to those of you who have been awarded!
  3. I would like to know too if any NPs have heard anything . I haven't heard anything except online my application still shows "under review". I called but recording says they don't know more than what online says, so I didn't talk with anyone. I don't know what to think, from reading here I am assuming I will be denied? When I talked to them this summer they kept saying 9/30?
  4. Hi, Took exam today and passed. Just wanted to share what I think helped me pass. 1. Barkley's review course & CDs. I really enjoyed the CDs, and had them before the review class. I listed to them quite a bit in my car. He made anemias easy to understand. 2. I read the Leik book from cover to cover. I really liked the layout of the book. There are 500 test questions in the back of the book which I did twice! lol. I had read on here that some of the treatments are outdated, so when in doubt, I looked up. Overall though, the S/S, pictures were very helpful in studying. Test questions. I took the Barkley DRT before the review and received 62%, then after the review 82%. In Leik's book of questions, towards the end I was getting mid 70's to mid 80's. Even though I went through the questions twice, many of them I didn't remember, so I didn't feel like I was "cheating" doing them again. I also took the APEA predictor exam and scored 76 or 78%. I recommend all of the above. I also had Fitzgerald book, questions and CDs, but I just could not get into it. There is so much information it was overwhelming, so I didn't use her material much at all. Good luck to everyone who still is waiting to take the exam! I couldn't believe how much my hands were shaking and heart was pounding waiting for the test result! They say it is preliminary - I sure hope they don't change their mind! :)
  5. I did negotiate but you are right about that, I am not good at it. Also, my priority was working Mon-thurs to spend time with my retired husband, etc.
  6. I would have loved to have been offered higher $. Basically, the new NP's in our area (midwest) are getting $75-85 year in office/outpatient settings. About $90 in hospital settings.
  7. Hi I just graduated AGPCNP and have accepted a job. My RN wage just wet up to $35 hr. I have been an RN since 1991. I am in the Midwest. I will be working part-time 32 hrs per week for a gerontology group. It is a different setting, not really home care, but working with low income seniors out of their homes. I am thrilled about the position. Even though I am salary, they give an hourly rate, which is $39.55. Others in my class have been offered $75,000 up to mid 80's. if I were full-time I would be around $83,000+ year. These figures do not include annual bonuses or call pay. Good luck!
  8. Congratulations! Thank you for your post. That is good to know that you took a concentrated week of studying and passed. I take AGPCNP AANP end of June. I will also be in Barkley's live review next week. I have been listening to him and using the same book as Fitzgerald that you mentioned. This past week I have been sick and feel behind on my studying, so I was so happy to read your post. Thank you. Are you still taking AANP? Lynn
  9. Hi, I normally am pretty calm by nature, but the more I think about the test, the more anxious I get. I have a Fitzgerald book, and Barkley CDs have takn notes from CDs. I am in his review in two weeks. My question is, how long do you all recommend to study? I will be taking test two weeks after actual review course, and am not working those days so I can concentrate. Since I just finished the CDs, I am in process of making note cards and this weekend, will be studying with my study buddy. My plan is to take AANP practice exam week b4 test, and if I am not doing great will reschedule. What type of scores on practice exams should I be getting? I have been getting in 60% range on Barkleys exam cold, and anywhere from 60-85 on systems exams (mostly 60-70%) Those are from fitzgeralds exam book. I am debating on also getting APEAs Q bank, but it seems kinda pricey, but also maybe cheaper in the long run. Sorry so many questions. Just want to make sure I'm on right track. Thanks! Lynn
  10. Hi, Thanks for the information. When you say that Leik and Barkley did not cover all the material, did you feel you needed more review, or were they enough? Sounds like you did great! I was just planning on using Barkley's stuff, along with the Fitzgerald stuff that was given to me. I will do practice tests, I feel they would help. I will check out Leik and APEA too. Thanks! Lynn
  11. I am scheduled to take Barkley mid June, then am taking a couple of weeks later. I am taking AANP. I have his CDs and have some Fitzgerald CDs and the book that goes with it. So I am combining them until I actually go to his review and get his book. He suggests in the CDs not to use anyone's stuff but his, and to not take practice exams. I understand needing to know our stfr, but I feel the practice exams can be useful. Anyone not use practice exams and do OK? Also, if you did, what percent did you get many feel confident with before exam? Thanks!
  12. Thank you. I have accepted a position with a different company than the one I had asked about. Thanks! Lynn
