ADN Program Lone Star College

The instructor I took at N. Harris is highly sought after and her classes fill up quick! She has daily quizes which I think are a plus because they encourage you to continue studying and if I remember correctly, she has some of those same questions on the lecture exams. She is very easy to understand because she helps you understand. She also has an open door policy in which you can see her in her office if you catch her.

I recommended her class to a few friends and they also did well. Of course, it is a difficult class. I'm not saying it was easy. But I do think she is one of the best professors I've had the privilege of having during my pre-reqs.

I received an A in the class because she made the course material interesting, fun and easier to understand. With your grades so far, why not apply to a BSN program? You can get into the N. Harris program with A's in the following classes: Eng 1301, Psych 2301, and BIO 2401 or 2402 and as long as you finish all the other pre-reqs in the degree plan. The 3 classes I mention are the only ones they look at your gpa. For the other classes, you get points just for completing them with a C or above.

Weird how that works. I didn't get in because I had 2 B's in ENG 1301 and BIO 2301 respectively even though I made A's on all my other courses.

Why don't you take your Psych class during the Spring minimester and then take Micro next fall? If you have completed all other pre-req courses other than Micro, you will still be able to get in with the full 4 points for the completed pre-reqs. (If you have taken all but Micro that should leave you with 27 credit hours. You need between 27-31 to get the full 4 points)

This is what I plan on doing. The only course I will need after this semester is Micro. Rather than killing myself trying to complete it during a summer course I plan on still applying for Spring 2011 admission and taking Micro next fall.

Oh, and you don't need 2402 in order to take Micro. You only need to have BIO 1406 OR 2401. Since you have already finished 2401, you should be able to take Micro.

That's a good idea. I should just worry about 27 credit hours and take microbio the fall before entrance. That's really good advice because I was concerned about doing it in the summer anyway. Never thought of that... I'll just have to take everything else. I thought about taking it alongside A&P2 honors this semester, but thought that, psychology, and microbio would be a bit too much. Also, I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and drive to N. Harris everyday for microbio in the fall, because Makukutu is the only prof at Kingwood. Thanks :)

I can't PM yet, so is this the professor at North Harris teaching at night Mondays and Wednesdays and her initials are DD?

Cezr, yea I knew they only look at your GPA for those classes. I have the paper that shows everything they look at and how many points you get. I just live so far from the North Harris campus I don't know if it'd be optional. I'm thinking of checking into San Jac North for that class. And as for a BSN program, I am going to try and apply to UT Houston once I get my associates, I'd just rather do their fasttrack RN to BSN than apply for their regular track, because only 12 people a year get into that I heard.

But yea, also Cezr, it's like that I guess because those classes are probably the most important of the classes you take pre-req-wise. If N. Harris is the same as Kingwood, you get 4 points for the gpa in those classes, 4 points for an A on reading/math on the Hessi, and 4 points for 27-31 credit hours of nursing-related classes. I'm not worried about the Hessi or the gpa, just the credit hours..
