admissions coordinator?

I have an interview for a position as an admissions coordinator for LTC/assisted living. I have the job description, but does anybody here have any experience in this area? Can you give me an accurate idea of what to expect? what do you like/dislike? salary range? hours you typically work? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Post this in LTC board....not LTAC board. These are not the same thing.

Specializes in Case Management, LTC,Rehab.

I currently work as an admissions coordinator. I've been doing it for 2 years now with two different facilities under my belt. They will have you look over referrals for LTC/assisted living to see if they are clinically appropriate for the facility. These referrals will come from the hospital, community or other facilities. Depending on the facility, it will require you to check insurances to make sure they are active. Light-medium administrative duties (filing, admission reports, census reports, admission contracts etc..) It requires a keen eye and clinical knowledge of disease processes, interpretation of labs etc..)

Specializes in Gerontology, Med surg, Home Health.

My admissions people are NOT nurses. They get the referrals and I make the clinical decisions.
