Admission/Acceptance to Georgia Regents/Georgia Health Sciences

Published

Hello! I just joined and couldn't find any other thread that had anything about admission stats or anything for Georgia Regents (formerly Georgia Health Sciences) and I am so nervous about getting into the BSN program, I applied with my first choice in Athens, and second as Augusta.. I have a 3.7 and got an 86 on the TEAS V and was wondering if anyone knew if that was competitive or what your stats were?!

HELLPPPPPPP :nailbiting:

I understand, but it sounds like they are sending out the remaining letters now. Has your status changed? The above poster stated theirs changed this morning, have you checked?

I checked it this morning when I woke up and I just checked it again. No luck. Still says "ready for review" it's been taking a tool on me.

I know, I have been there.

Oh man they sent rejections to be processed?! Well I guess it's about that time :(

They sent both so don't be discouraged. Just be looking for that big envelope :). You never know until that letter comes!

Try and be optimistic. I think a lot of the accepted students have a mix of stats but the great thing about GRU is that they take into consideration the person, not just the statistics. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you hear that you were accepted.

Did you apply for Athens or Augusta?

Thank you. I applied to Augusta. I told my husband that I will shadow and volunteer my butt off this year so that I have something better to offer if I don't get accepted. But my GI Bill won't pay for classes that aren't in my degree plan and since I will be done with all the nursing pre-reqs, I am wondering if I should change my major for the time being so that I can take more classes, or just save it. I don't want to take classes JUST to take classes so I dunno :/. I know you mentioned before in the forum that this is your third time applying, what did you do inbetween the other two times if you don't mind me asking? Also congrats on your acceptance!!

Yes, I applied last year for GRU (then GHSU) and was not accepted. I then went on to take classes that satisfied other schools program requirements. I ended up at Georgia State taking some classes they needed for their program that were school specific. I applied to GSU for Spring 2013 but was waitlisted. So for this past semester I took one class that Kennesaw required for their program and I applied for Gwinnett Tech, Kennesaw State, Georgia State, and GRU. I was only accepted to GRU.

As for taking classes just to take classes, I am not a proponent of this but that is because I am trying to conserve as much of my financial aid as I can. That is your decision.

Thank you!

I have a 3.57 GPA and only a 76 on the TEAS (totally bombed the math section! I have A's in all my math courses though so I was hoping they would equate that to "inability to do math problems without a calculator" ;) ). I don't have any experience in the medical community. I do have over 600 hours of volunteer/community service but none nursing related and that is over a span of years. I tried to include my leadership experiences from my 8 yrs served in the military as well but seeing as there are so many military folks in this GA, I doubt it contributed much.

Good luck! I think you still have a great chance! I think your leadership skills will help you out a lot. They like that. You also have a lot of volunteer hours. I think they like to see caring traits. Stay positive, I think you have a good chance. Your gpa is good also! I failed my teas test the first time due to the math section. I didn't know what to expect. I was on like problem 4 when they said we had five minutes left. If it makes you feel better I think I still ended up with like a 65 on my math section bc I ran out of time.

Am I the only one that is super excited about receiving information about uniforms and clinical packs? I cannot wait to start buying stuff for school!

I am ready to start buying stuff also! I hope they give us enough time to speed the expenses out also. Do you know when they are going to send that out? I hope they do not wait until school starts to tell us what we need.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share a page someone started for those starting in the fall.
