I think I have may bitten more than I can chew.
I am enrolled in Micro, A&P2 and chemistry.
I doing fine in my classes except Chem. Its killing me! I am so stressed and I keep floating around a 69-71% I absolutely refuse to take a C grade or worse. So I am thinking of dropping the class. Its not required for the nursing program I'm applying into.
My question is. How does that look on your transcripts that show you have dropped a class? To the nursing department? Does that matter? Does it hurt your GPA when you drop a class?

That you need to talk to your school about. I took A&P 1, Chem and French (I needed a filler class, and I already speak it pretty well from my time in the military), and I actually pulled my Professor aside, and explained I really wanted a B for my transcript. But my grades were solid C, C- on tests. So she gave me extra credit, I'm talking online assignments that took me 20-30 hours of work a piece. They were awful. But guess what? I got my B+. She and I both knew I wasn't going to be a Chemistry major. So she helped me out.

If you drop before the deadline for avoiding a W, it will not show at all. If you drop after the W deadline but before the final deadline, you will have a W. Different schools have different policies about a W, how many W's are allowed, etc. It is not a good thing. If you wait too long to get the W, and the instructor gives you a low grade, that is worst of all. Always best to size things up and drop before you incur at least a W on your transcript. You can find out the policy of your school in general, and the nursing department in particular, and adjust accordingly for the future. Good luck.

Some schools consider W an attempt and a repeat
