Hospitalist or ER, then non-cardiac specialty floors.
I cannot express how extremely important it is for a future NP to get exposed to areas he or she was NOT exposed as an RN. If, as an RN, you have strong cardiac background, there are good chances you already know a lot about cardio. The problem is, there is a chance you'll end up treating everything under the Sun and then some more, in the most insane combinations. So get on floors you never was before.

Hello,
I am in an acute care program and we are responsible for finding our own clinical sites. I was wondering if anyone that has some experience would be willing to offer some advice on their opinion of the best clinical settings for acute care programs. A little background: I have worked on a cardiac telemetry floor, cardiac ICU, and currently work in a cardiac cath lab so I am interested in doing something cardiac upon graduation but I feel as though it is important to get a well-rounded clinical experience.
I appreciate any input!
