Greetings! I am a RN with about 1 years medsurg experience looking to apply for FY 2017 to the Navy for direct accession. Anyone else out there working on their packet or that have already submitted it? Please feel free share your experiences thus far, desired duty stations and any valuable info. Thanks!

I just received orders and will commission this week. I leave in Aug. I am trying to get mentally and physically prepared. lol

Awesome. Will see you next month!

Hello everyone,

I have a few questions to those of you whom got selected and went to ODS, how long did your the process to get your kit prepared and sent to the board take. Is MEPS and credentialing the last parts of your application? lastly, for those who went to ODS in this thread how was it? Did you start working yet and were are you located.

I currently am a RN for 5 years, 2 in critical care and am working on preparing my kit for the end of Oct but have not had MEPS yet and am hoping I can meet the deadline for the Oct board/selection committee.

Hey Michy,

I started my package last August and got credentialed in March. In March I told my recruiter to stop processing my package. In July I went back and told him I was ready. I had to do some things over because I am now submitting for FY 18. I too hope to submit for the November board. Best of luck to you.

I started my package last November when I was still in nursing school. There were some delays for various things so I had everything but credentials done by May. Credentials in July, boards this month and hopefully news in November. Be patient. Don't expect it to be a quick process.

How long did the credentials part take ? I sent over my paperwork last week. Good luck to you as well. Hopefully we'll be in the next batch to go to ODS.

Thanks and im starting to learn it's not a quick or straightforward process. I got an email from my recruiter last week saying "from here on forward we will be moving a lot more quickly" so I guess I'm just trying to figure out what timelines do everything go by, especially since I haven't went to medical yet.

Credentialing took about ~3 weeks altogether I think. If your references are quick to respond it might go faster but I think most people will say a couple of weeks is typical. I was supposed to go to the board in August but there was only one billet left for med surg for FY17 and a ton of applicants so my recruiter pulled my packet to wait for the new FY. All well really.. now I have more experience going into the boards so hopefully a better shot. I'll have my CCRN soon.. I think the timing just worked out better. Perhaps we'll see each other at ODS in Feb!

How long after the board meeting did you hear results? How long did it take you to commission after finding out you were accepted? Was anyone waitlisted as a 1960?

Going to jump into this with a random question, mostly because it is the most active post that has to do with Navy Nursing. On the Navy's website it says that in order to apply for a direct commission, you need to have your BSN from a school that holds the CCNE accreditation. I have also seen (and been told by my recruiter) that the Nurse Candidate Program for the Navy accepts either the ACEN or CCNE accreditation. I'm not eligible for the NCP because I'm doing a combo of my RN and BSN (I already have a bachelors degree) that will only take me about three years to complete. Would I still be able to apply while having a degree with the ACEN accreditation?

Good luck to everyone who is waiting for their results!

My recruiter has said that no one has been accepted from any nurse packages submitted. The oct and nov boards have already met. Is that pretty standard? It seems odd to me but I could just be unfamiliar with the process.

Hey Duffy, I was told that you must be a bsn to apply for the nurse Corp. What was your degree in?
