hey i was wondering if there are any active duty folks who can help me out. i am in the reserves and thinking about going active duty. however, i am worried about the financial crunch i may face with the huge pay cut going from civilian side with bountiful over time and union wages to the army pay scale. my car payment alone is over 500 hundred a month, and to be honest i dont know if i could pay my bills if i went active right now. im not sure what i may or may not get in terms of an incentive bonus. i received a 30,000 bonus for going into the reserves, of which i have received 10 thousand. does anyone know if i will be eligible for the 20,000 dollar incentive pay. i have an 66h8a identifier. but from something i was reading, it looks more as if it is more of a retention tool for nurses with less than one year remaining on their commitment. if anyone on active duty can help me out with some info i would greatly appreciate it.

Jb, what active duty bonus are you describing? Bonus for new recruiters... or a bonus for captains extension of duty or.... ? I'm a bit confused by the OP.

I don't know your details but can also recommend you do a search on AKO, on NC branch website and you can also find some good stuff searching MILPERs.

I hear there is a critical care bonus of $10,000/year.....but you need your 8A. I don't know where it is in writing, but I JUST spoke with a SRNA who gets it (Active duty). You can also look into HPLR (student loan repayment).

I am currently a reservist 8A and applying for the CRNA school....which would mean "giving up my 30k/50k/6 yr deal", but I would "potentially" get a $180,000 education for 4.5 yrs...........plus incredible experience.....

good luck

just cause,

there is now a 20,000 a year bonus type payment you can apply for on active duty for a commitment of four years

right... for cpts of certain year groups in certain MOS, look it up on MILPERS.

I would try to post a link but don't have AKO access.

The MILPER message will spell out the specifics or you I'd talk to my unit's S1.

From what I remember you'd already have to be Active Duty in order to accept a retention bonus to stay active duty....
