I believe you have to do it in a class in a live setting because when I took it we had to run a code and use the manequin and do CPR, and analyze his rhythm's etc...you had to pass all this to get your card (AHA card).
Personally for me, I read most of the book before class and it was not making sense...the actual classroom instruction made it crystal clear to me. GOod luck!
be careful about taking it online. i live in ny and a lot of job postings say that bls/acls only accepted from certain organizations.
bls/aed training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:american heart association - bls for healthcare providers (cpr & aed) program
american red cross - cpr/aed for the professional rescuer
no online programs from any organization will be accepted
this quote is from a specific hospital near me-so if you take it online, it may limit where you can work.

So as a new nurse, waiting for a job/interview I was looking into ACLS and found some online programs.
Do online programs qualify you with certification?
Can anyone recommend an online program?
Any good classes in Sacramento area?
Thanks!
