  1. I am working as a substitute nurse in several school districts in my area. Also, I do flu shot clinics this time of year. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the name of the company I work for or their website. I am also a Mary Kay rep, but I was doing that before I became a nurse.
  2. I would love t!o see how they turned out
  3. I was at goodwill yesterday and couldn't find any so I asked. They had them mixed in with other stuff. Some stores separate them though. Ask someone who works there. Also check ebay.
  4. The title says it all, thanks!
  5. Great idea. I sub in an elementary school and a student fell off a few months ago and had broken her collar bone.
  6. I thought I responded to this, not sure what happened to it... I looked on the districts website for employment and applied there or followed directions to send resume, etc. I also applied through a website specifically for educational employment. The one I use is specific to NY state, maybe NJ has a similar one?
  7. That's what the internet is for! I did 95% of my shopping online this year and it was a blessing. If you start early enough and keep your eye out for sales and free shipping it doesn't have to cost more than going to the store either. Congratulations and best wishes for your new baby!
  8. Thanks for your well referenced post! Still it's fun to think about.
  9. Thanks, I hope I have a nice baby too. In any case, I hope I don't have a traumatic ER birth, but thanks for your input.
  10. I sure FEEL like a "large body of water" LOL Also, I live on Long Island, less than 2 miles from the water, so who knows? I will be sure to post if I deliver this weekend. :)
  11. Hi everyone. I am 37w1d pg and hoping to deliver soon!!! DS1 was born at 36w4d. I was wondering what your experience on your floor is during full moon. Is it an old wives tale or is your floor really busy with laboring moms during the full moon? This Saturday is the "supermoon" when the moon will be closer to the earth than it has been in the last 18 years. I'm a "new" grad working as a sub school nurse, so I have no L&D experience other than clinicals during school, though I really want to be and L&D nurse. Just wondering what your experience has been. Thanks!
  12. be careful about taking it online. i live in ny and a lot of job postings say that bls/acls only accepted from certain organizations. this quote is from a specific hospital near me-so if you take it online, it may limit where you can work.
  13. I wear scrubs. I am working as a substitute right now, so I am an unfamiliar face to the students and feel that the scrubs identify me as a medical professional. I have asked at the districts that I sub in and they are split-some wear scrubs, some wear business casual.
  14. Wow, congrats on getting hired! I can't even get an interview and they don't even know I'm pregnant (26 weeks). No advice, just wanted to wish you luck!!!
  15. Are you talking both the top and bottom? I gained weight in between 1st and 2nd year and the pants were tight on me. I just bought white scrub pants and had no issues. My instructors never noticed.
