ACLS Ceritificate necesarry for a new job?

Published

After i passed the nclex i have to look for a job as RN in CA area. Do I need this certificate ACLS? Can somebody help me with this question?

It depends on the hospital and the unit where you will be working. It looks good to have it, but many employers will offer it for free to their new nurses.

You might try posting this in one of the general nursing forums for more responses.

At my facility you get hired then take acls at said facility. Just let them know up front. You just took nclex, they know that u are new. Good luck

Upon hire we take a telemetry course first, then we must take ACLS with in one year of hire. I work on a tele/trauma/surgical/open heart floor so it is vitall that one takes it. It would never hurt to have that knowledge behind you.

Thanks to all of you for your reply! I think I will take it and look on the internet to find something until I'll get a job.
