Accidental Mistake- UGH

Specialties NP

So........

I recently graduated NP school in December 2018. And got my NP license certificates from the California BRN 2 weeks ago (yay) They also said I needed to renew my licenses before April 30, 2019. I went onto the website to do so and misunderstood the questions during the online application and accidentally renewed my licenses to inactive status FML.

Since I clicked "No" when they asked on the application "are you returning to active status?". In my head I thought, I'M ACTIVE ALREADY SO NO OF COURSE IM NOT RETURNING, I ALREADY AM ACTIVE. After my application was processed, it now says my license is currently inactive on my license search. FML

Now I went back to the CA BRN website to see how to go from inactive to active and one of the requirements is to send your CE certificates (which I don't have, since I didnt need to do CE's... I JUST GRADUATED)

So now I'm hating my life trying to figure out how to fix this since we all know how slow the BRN is at responding and I don't want to send unnecessary forms that will complicate the issue further.

Anyone with similar issues with advice? Please and thank you.

If not, don't make the same mistake I did X.X (I'm hoping I can send them a copy of my transcript and that will be enough, but we'll see if I can reach them tomorrow.

With these kinds of things, skip the emailing and head straight for the phone. I bet if you speak to someone they can straighten it right out for you with little hassle? I am sure these things come up all the time.

Not the same issue, but I was struggling for weeks to get my CT RN license-submitted all my paperwork, they verified receipt, but my application languished "in process" for weeks. Then I got a letter saying my application was closed for lack of required documentation! So I called, got on the line with a very nice lady, and it turned out all my paperwork was being dutifully placed in someone else's file, of the same name. Argh! But 10 minutes later my license popped up online!

I think your snafu can be fixed just as quickly.

YES! The same thing happened to me over the summer. I had just received my license a few weeks prior and needed to renew. To our credit, that question was misleading and confusing IMHO.

I went straight to them to get it straightened out. I had to pay an additional $12 Cash and paperwork. They don't accept credit cards. They had informed me it would take 5 business days to change status. It was a pain but it got done.

I'm wondering if this happens a lot?

I just did this same thing. trying to get it worked out now. poorly worded question. :-(((

Something tells me that it does and the BRN doesn't care.

Happened to me as well. I ended up having to go in person to get it straightened out.

Edit: oops, I've already replied to this post.?
