Accepted to St. Vincents (Competency Exam)!!!!

Published

I have just recently been accepted to St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Bridgeport, CT. I have been accepted directly into the major, however, in order for me to receive credit for my A^P I have to successfully passing of the Anatomy and Physiology competency exam since I took both AP 1 and 2 at one of the community colleges. I am required to make my degree deposit ($200) by Friday and I am in a DILEMMA!!!

Has anyone taken this exam and passed??? I really want to attend this school but if I do not pass the competency exam they will make me take both AP 1 and 2 over again, which is ridiculous because I passed AP 1 with a B last semester and am currently in AP 2. I do not know what to do. If I do not pass the competency exam then I will not take my seat in this program.

I mean, maybe I will pass and everything will be fine, right? ugh, but I don't know!!

Hi there!

I just graduated from ST. v 2 years ago. I must tell you that's standard regulations from almost each school. ( sadly) however if you don't pass the test, taking those classes will re- in force your knowledge,. I had to taken AP three times from different schools, but time went fast and I got to my goal. St. Nursing school it's challenging but you are well prepared, I am thankful that I stayed and hope you make a wise choice. Good luck to you

No one I know of has every passed those stupid comp exams for A&P. And I've a had a lot of friends and fellow classmates who took it. All did very well when they orig took it with A's (some had literally JUST taken it and passed with an A) and not one of them passed. I've yet to hear of anyone who passed it.

SVC has this thing where they think their A&P is geared more toward the nursing and radiology majors and more difficult than other colleges A&P (its not). I took A&P at a local community college and found it WAY more intense and difficult and really more in depth than the A&P at SVC.

And so did your friends/classmates decide to retake AP at SVC? It seems a bit ridiculous. It will put me a whole year behind it I have to retake. What did they do?

They retook the courses.

They retook the courses.

Do they allow you to take them along with Nur 101?

I believe you can. I was just at SVC website and it shows that there are no pre-reqs for NUR101, but Co-Requisites: BIO 211, MAT 140, PSY 101 if you haven't taken them prior to starting.

Hi there! I am going to be taking the exam within the next few weeks. I took API/II && Micro and passed just about a year ago-- with all of the same revolving comments as to no one really passing these tests.. do you recommend I kill myself studying for them, or go into them with the knowledge I already have and just brush up on my books?
