I cannot wipe the smile off my face, I got accepted at Simmons for the online November cohort!!!! This has been a long road for me, and it was actually my second time applying. I knew it would be difficult, but I am so happy I kept trying so I could reach my career goal. I do have to take the 8 week bridge course, but I think it will be a nice refresher....I have also seen other posts where people think it should be a required course. Either way, I am thrilled!!

Who else has gotten accepted to the online November cohort??

I am waiting for a decision! My application went into review Friday 9/16. I am so nervous!!!!!! How long did it take them to give you an answer and did they call or email? :) CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! It took about 4 weeks for a decision. Normally it takes about 1-2 weeks, but my admissions counselor said it may have taken longer for me since it was my second time applying to the program. The first time I applied (got denied) it took about 5 days. When I got denied I received an email, but this time around I got a phone call followed by an email afterwards. I hope you get great news soon!!

UGH! I am so happy you got in this time around. I know if i don't get in I will keep trying. It is a week today. When during the year did you apply? I know I cut it close to the deadline. The deadline was today for everyone. Congrats again, I will keep you posted!! *FINGERS CROSSED*

Also---what did you differently the 2nd time around when applying?

I applied in mid August. My admissions counselor said the committee was still wrapping up September applicants at that time, but they look at applications on a rolling basis, so as soon as they got done with those they would move on to the November candidates.

The second time around I spoke to my admissions counselor quite a bit. I wrote an optional statement detailing why my grades were not so great at the beginning of college and the steps I took to recover from that and show how I have grown since then. I finished my BSN about one month after I got declined, so that was a plus, and was awarded nurse of the year at the hospital I work for. I got all new references too, which I think was helpful. Be sure to include any volunteer service you do on your resume. Something that my admission counselor pointed out that looks better on your application is if you have shadowed any nurse practitioners (this will show that you understand what an NP does and the role they play in pt care). I included all specialty NP's that I have shadowed and how it solidified my desire to pursue this degree.

I hope this was helpful to you!

I didn't get in. :( I am going to try and take a patho or pharm class and then try to shadow an NP. The trouble is...I don't know any! Thanks for your response
