I just got my letter Wednesday that I have been accepted :yeah:to 's ACE program for Spring 2009, I am excited:lol2:, scared:scrying:, nervous and anxious. I have been readying the boards everyday for a month before I joined, I have found so much useful information:bowingpur. If anyway has word of wisdom, encouragment, I welcome them with open arms.

I'm not worried since i actually went over almost everything a while ago (thanks to advice here). I just found the practice problems to be so easy, i never took the "tests". Now i am, anx i remember why i skipped them. But chapter 21 starts getting interesting (ped dosing) and the ones after are also slightly complex. I can't remember if the quiz was to ch 21 or 24. There is a lotta knowledge in those last few.

I am getting nervous now. Inplan to sleep lots next week. I've been barely home this month, and didn't get all the preparations ready (cleaning, organising, studying). I don't think 6 days is quite enough.

The only peds dosing you'll see until 3rd quarter is mg/kg. Everything else is straightforward (ie. you have this many mg of drug x and you need to give that many). Just know your conversions and you'll be fine. I'm horrible at math, and I haven't had any problems so far. Not sure what the orientation quiz is like, but we didn't do drip rates until 2nd quarter.

I promise, orientation is totally non-threatening, nothing to be nervous about there. :) PM me if there's anything I can help you with, you'll be fine!

Hi, Loner! I will be joining you tomorrow for the ACE orientation. It starts at 8:00 with the ID pictures and introduction breakfast in Alumni Hall/New College Building (wherever that is). The chapters we were supposed to review from Calculate with Confidence are from 1-21. Looks like a busy day! I'm getting kinda nervous about starting in one week...

Hope to meet you!

Trish

Well, survived orientation (on what sleep i managed to get on the train from Boston to Philly). It started off well, but I noticed that at about 2:00pm, I was completely unable to pay attention. We got our nursy bags. We got our PDA's (HP iPAQ 210) and a "bonus" Garmin Mobile 10 suite to install on those PDAs.

Before we were done gathering our stuff, I saw our clinical assignments were posted.

I have Holy Redeemer. Anyone know where that is? I see on in Philadelphia, and one outside of Philly.

Oh, yeah, and I have a "clicker". What are those things used for?

Glad to hear you survived. How was the math quiz?

Your Prinicples clinical is usually at a LTC or sub-acute facility, so I'm not sure which Holy Redeemer you'll be going to. They'll post details on Blackboard over the weekend. The main medical center is a nice hospital with good staff who seem to like students, so hopefully you'll have a good experience.

Your clicker will likely sit in your bag until some random day when one of your professors brings "clicker questions" to a lecture or review. Then you'll all point them at things and find out that they don't really work anyway.

HaHa. . we had those clicker things at my other undergrad college and we never used them either!

We never had the math quiz surprise surprise! It sounds like it's a good thing to say to get students to read the material!

I will be going to Lankenau for clinicals wednesdays. Does that mean that my fridays will be free?

I tried multiple times but can't seem to log into blackboard. Has any of the new ACE students for Spring 09' been able to log in?

I am just using my @drexel.edu name like it says to use and my same password I use to log into one.drexel.edu

I wonder if they haven't opened it yet or something. . .

I'm not in yet. The site says we'd get an email saying we can login. I haven't received that email yet, either.

How are you coming along with your PDA?

I just got off the phone with someone from technical support about blackboard. He said that students won't be able to log into blackboard until Sunday. I already had a professor email me and say to read over and print the syllabus and begin to review ppt's for monday! Sunday won't leave me with too much time.

I registered with that skyscape thing online today and entered everything into the PDA so everything's unlocked now at least. That thing is a freakin' brick! Definitely won't be putting that on the belt haha.

How are you making out with it? I do like the wireless internet feature though. This is my first PDA experience.

I think the PDA would be fine if my laptop wasn't such a PITA. My laptop has some weird flaws... I have to reinstall stuff all the time. The USB ports don't work too well (I just bought a USB2 pcmia card for it). It's internal wiresless died. But, it runs XP (which the PDA requires).

My laptop can talk to the PDA, but I couldnt' start the unlocking process yet since the Firefox crashed or something. Trying to work on that now, along with cooking and cleaning my desk area.. and wasting valuable time on the intarwebs. ;)

hahaha...well i have a mac so i'm screwed with syncing it to my laptop. I'll have to use the computers in the lab.

I am busy trying to get all my stuff together to move. I can't move into student housing at Stiles Hall until Saturday.

Ok.. I think I installed all that stuff. It all has expiration dates? What happens then? Mine expires the day before the last Friday of finals, I think. Does it just stop updating, or do I lose complete access to the books/programs?
