Accepted into CCC Nursing Program: Truman College

U.S.A. Illinois

Hi all! I've started this thread for those of us who have gotten the good news and have been accepted to start the nursing program at Truman College in Fall 2012!

If you are still waiting to hear, I would suggest visiting the other thread I started for some helpful information, tips, and support!

Here's what I know so far:

  • There WILL be clinicals in the first semester (6 hours)
  • The classes will be scheduled via a lottery system
  • We should be receiving a letter from Dr. Gurney in the near future that details what our next steps should be!

Please add to this thread if you have any more information or just want to say hi!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and having classes together shortly!

i was wondering about the link for the drug test too. i just took mine at mercy where they said we could go and now they want us to create a profile and pay another $34 for some test done somewhere else or is it just to link the test through the certified background website? i'm so confused and frustrated with these people. you would think they'd have their crap together by now. if anyone can shed some light on the newest email just sent wednesday, i'd greatly appreciate it!

To Kaimi 69, Yes, I am confused too. I thought they are very organized, but they are not. I turned in my pocket last Thursday, on May 31st. Vanisha told me that 3 of the drugs from the test drug have different names that on the sheet from Truman. The medical coordinator should look at this and I supposed to receive a call if this is ok, or I should do another test drug. It's been a week now and I have no any information from them so far.

When comes to that certified background website, I have no idea how they do the drug test. I know it's online thing, so how we have to give them our urine? They supposed to make up their minds. I know a lot of students turned in their pockets already, but those people from Truman are still making new changes. That's annoying.....

Booklist is supossed to be emailed to all today!!!!!

I didn't get a booklist, did anyone else get it?

nursinghereicome, where did you get your blood drawn for the tricyclic? Northwestern told me they don't even test for that, so I'm not sure where I should go to get it done.

thanks!

OK -- just called the nursing department, they are apparently sending us an email - the tricyclic antidepressant has been REMOVED from the requirements!

Can they finally make up their minds?

So what is this booklist that is supposedly being sent to us? I haven't receieved anything in my inbox from the nursing department yet.

Can somebody clear up a few things for me...

1) Are we still waiting on information on the background check? I have an email from Vanisha dated May 29 that states "Current background check for 2012 (additional information will be provided at a later date)".

2) Does the final shot for your Hepatitis B vaccine have to be completed before June 1? Is that possible? I will have the first and second shots completed but I was told it is 6 months before you get your third shot.

Thanks!

to newyork27, we do not need another background check right now. I guess we will have to do it again at the end of this year and we will be provided with the due date. So we do not have to worry about it right now.

Hepatitis B we will receive in 3 series; 2nd dose will be in a month from the 1st dose and 3rd dose will be in 6 months from the first one. So it's not possible to get all three before June 29th( the last day when they will taking our medical pockets). Do not worry, I am waiting for the next dose and I will take it next week. I hope my answer will help you a little bit, but not confuse you more.

Thank you violet.78, your answer helps a lot!

Has anyone had their given class times switched with anyone else? Another student and I already put our request in long ago but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

The drug test I received tested for Acetaminophen, Cocaine metabolite, Opiates, Acetone, Ethanol, Amphetamines, Esopropanol, Salicylates, Barbiturates, Mathadone, Tricyclic antidepressant, Benzodiazepines, Methanol

but no Tetrahydrocannabinol or Phencyclidine??? I'm lost here. Am I seriously reading this right? I gave the medical assistant at my physician's Truman's list of requirements...!!
